Cheap first. Project car hell later.

If you have the means to do all the work, that would be pretty badass

I would say it might be worth paying a little more for one that is at least partly put together.

Depends on how much more he's gotten in since then. He said its a roller, but in the ONE pic he has so far, it doesn't have any suspension hanging on it.

Plus he's selling the refurbed interior bits in another ad for $900. I'm guessing the wiring and whatnot is around somewhere... I asked for more details and he hasn't replied yet. I don't mind doing the work if all the parts are there.

I'd source my own drivetrain, and suspension bits for it anyways.

Thats not a deal. That quarter is a mess. No title, thats a pain depending on where you live. I have found on CL cars in better shape a just a bit more with a title.

If the rest of the car looks good I can forgive the quarter. Fenders and doors are included, as is trans and rear end.

I can at LEAST make my money back if I have to. Going to look at it Sunday possibly.

For THIS specific car in my area, they don't show up for less than $2k usually, and those are complete basket cases, body wise. This one at least has some of the work done already.

I would stay away. If it was all together and he was including all the parts then its ok. I'd rather spend 2k on a car that is all together then something that is in pieces. I have rebuilt many old cars and the little pieces even if they are damaged are good to have. Good luck.

No! Nononononononononono! That thing will eat you alive. The wiring in those cars are hell. I took the dash apart last winter, I should know. The suspension and rust repair would suck too. You would be better off getting this: http://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/cto/409047… it costs more, but it runs and is rather rare.

I will take that under advisement.

Or: Donor car.

Its a possibility.

Well if the wiring is gone that's a deal breaker... I'm just going to look at it Sunday since its local. Suspension/rear end is included (roller), as is the trans. So if there are major issues after purchase, I can make my money back.

$2k is a good deal on that ugly thing, but I wouldn't want a running car anyways, planning on an LS swap.

Okay, so he has the wiring, but its not in the car. Now come the questions that await answers:

"Why are you selling it?"

"Why is it apart?"

"What do you all have left?"

There is this ad for the interior bits: http://milwaukee.craigslist.org/cto/4043175581…

why worry about the existing wiring? Get a Painless kit and rewire the whole thing.

Because it is expensive and I'm a high schooler working with a very very low budget.

painless kits are not cheap. I got a "keep it clean" kit for much less than a Painless kit. The original wiring can work fine, if you don't mind not always having everything working. After a while though, its nice to know you wired everything up right, and not have to rely on 30 years of patch jobs and old wiring.
