Not the console mount, but the pattern. I know it lets you feel better about the environment, and prevents enthusiasts from stealing your car, but I find it awkward and annoying to have to look at.
No I didn't take this picture.

I like the gated manual shifters the best, but for an automatic, I like these:

Ever done a burnout in a Prius?
Surprisingly satisfying....Go try if you never have.
I've done it numerous times, on tile floor, pavement and sand....

I remember when I had my Lexus SC400 Guys were willing to pay a premium to covert over to this shift patter from the standard straight line PRNDL setup.

Found it! Apparently it's a Prius thing.
"...The choices are RNDB. (“Park” is applied using a separate button above the shifter.) We all know what D, N, and R are, but what’s B? In D, regenerative braking only occurs when the brake pedal is used. In B, regenerative braking is used whenever the driver lifts his or her foot off of the accelerator. This is useful for coasting down long grades, when engine braking is desirable and might as well be used to generate energy. But overly fairly flat terrain the use of B will harm both performance and fuel economy because it will create more work for the engine. "

The pattern is 1/2 a gated 5 speed manual, as it has 3 gates.
Nevertheless, kill it with fire.

Most confusing and unneeded thing ever.
