I was just talking to my coworker who used to race sailboats and he said the same thing. He can't wait for a US win, but feel bad because "this is basically all they [New Zealand] has [in terms of sports]" No offense, its meant to show how important it is. I guess its salt on the would if Oracle wins because Jimmy is an Aussie. Sorry. To be fair, its likely Eremites will still win this one.

Yeah rugby/All Blacks are the biggest sport in NZ by far and the whole country goes into mourning when we loose. But every 4 years, yachting takes priority. We are such a small country and no one is more than 150kms from the sea. A lot of us grew up with family boats and yachts, it's just our thing.
