I just got gas and on the other side of me was some brotato filling up his Dodge Ram Brony500. It was a diesel of course, huge fucking C Cummings logo on the back glass, gigantic tailpipe, and lifted on brotastic rims with muddin' tires. Common sight in Ohio, I know. But here's the thing, he left the fucking thing running the whole time he was filling up the tank. First off that shit is illegal. Second what the fuck is the point? And then the fucker pulls away Rollin' Coal. Just what I needed a fucking lung full of, soot and diesel fumes. What a fucktard. This piece of shit lives down the street from me. What should I do Oppo?

1. Get one of these:

Kinja'd!!!

2. Loosen one or more valve stem cores so it slowly leaks air (i.e. doesn't make a lot of noise). Don't fully remove the cores.

3. You'll have him wondering why the hell the tire(s) flat but doesn't seem to have a hole/puncture.

Note: do this only if you are sure you won't get caught/beat up/shot/hanged for fucking with his douchemobile. Doing this at night will probably minimize your chances of getting caught.

I don't think it's illegal... Cops around here do it all the time. I used to be against when I noticed one of my friends doing the same thing, but after thinking it through there's really no logical reason for it to be considered dangerous... unless of course you're also one of those people who swears you shouldn't get in and out of your car while refueling or the static electricity will blow you up...

Running while filling up: illegal, yes, but has no reason to be for a diesel. Diesel is nigh-impossible to accidentally spark ignite. As to the point - diesel engines use next to no fuel at idle unloaded, unlike gas (which runs richer), and would need to run for a good 30 sec to use as much fuel as starting. Also, diesels demonstrably last longer with as few startup cycles as possible (higher combustion temp, etc.), and maybe he wanted his AC running.

It used to be a common thing for trucks stopping for periods of hours to stay at idle to keep the cab/engine warm, because cheap fuel was easily outweighed by maintenance cost and cold cab, etc. hassle. Diesel: it's just different.

The only thing I'm prepared to fault him for is a "rolling coal" tune.

It's illegal in a good number of states -allegedly for the spark-ignition reason - but makes no exception for diesel, which makes it that much dumber.

He was running it for a good few minutes. And running while fueling won't trip a fault code on a diesel like it would on, say a normal car?

As a lot attendant there were a few times I would leave a car running while fueling. Because dead battery.

As far as I'm aware, diesels don't have to have vapor control like gas, so I think check engine lights would be a negative. Might depend on the vehicle, though.

As to a "good few minutes" spent running, he would still have been using nigh-trivial amounts of fuel. Where a gas engine would spend significantly more than half the gas at 800 rpm compared with 1600, a diesel not under load might spend less than a quarter, maybe as low as an eighth, since it doesn't need to run rich at idle (less than ideal vaporization in a gas engine, fuel cooling), and also doesn't have to use fuel at a 1/14 ratio with air - just barely enough fuel to keep the engine turning over in terms of energy content.

Just two. My work burner and my home one. I got a burner at work because I only had IE and limited license to dick with the computer, and the google login script was fucked.

I now actually have a work PC with other browsers, but I'm too lazy to phase out the burner.
