Which one?
I just asked this on Facebook and the split was 90% to 10% in favour of one. Let's see if Oppo returns the same results

F1, hands down.

F1. Why is this a question?
![]() 09/20/2013 at 16:31 |

I'd own the F1. The Veyron's definitely more insanely engineered though.

F1. This is after all still jalopnik.

I disagree, as far as Supercars go, less is often more.
![]() 09/20/2013 at 16:35 |

I see what you mean (as in the F1's minimally brilliant engineering?).
The Veyron I feel was always more of a technology showcase, while the F1 was McLaren's perfect road car.

Veyron, because it was more than just speed.

Right now, F1, hands down. The Veyron is incredible, but I also associate it with lots of douchebaggery. In 15 years time though, I bet most of the douchebags will have moved on to newer faster cars, and only the true enthusiasts will continue to own them, and it will be interesting to look back and ask this question again, unhindered by interference by the image of the cars' current owners.

Looks like it's going in the F1's favour!
![]() 09/20/2013 at 16:38 |

F1, because the Bugatti is just a fucking Volkswagen.
![]() 09/20/2013 at 16:39 |

F1 because racecar.
![]() 09/20/2013 at 16:47 |

Hey, hey! Easy with that.
![]() 09/20/2013 at 16:51 |

F1 because it was still about driving. Yes, it was the most amazing car made to date at the time, but at the end of the day, its entire appeal was that it's all about creating the best driving car in the world that happened to have the then-best statistics behind it. Plus, it's a fairly attractive, even if simple, shape. Less is more.
The Veyron? Nothing but numbers. Yes, insanely quick, both in a straight light and around corners. But it's all about the technological marvel and all of the things it can do for you, not what you can do with it. Also, it's not an attractive car no matter how you frame it. More is not more.
Full-disclosure: I've never driven either and am thus talking out of my ass. I stand behind my ass-speak, however.

The F1. It performs well off the line, but despite being beat by the Bugatti, it will always perform better on the track than the Bugatti. Anybody done some track times comparisons with these 2 yet?
![]() 09/20/2013 at 16:54 |

Not that I've seen. Watched an old Top Gear drag race earlier. Bugatti won. But made me think most petrolheads would still prefer an F1. For finesse, connoisseurship, innovation

i shall stand behind...wait... maybe beside... yes, beside your ass-speak as well .

The veyron to me feels like someone picked through the vw parts catalog and added a bit of everything. 1001hp is lots... but then you realize it's a 16 cylinder engine with 4 turbochargers and ten radiators. All of a sudden, it's less "wow that's amazingly powerful", and more of "really? all of that and they could only get 1001hp? no wonder it weighs over 4,100lbs"
![]() 09/20/2013 at 16:55 |

The F1, because it's what you'd get if you asked NASA to design a supercar. The Veyron is what you'd get if you asked a brain damaged 6 year old to design one.

I'm going to prison in either one of those, so I'll take the one with the seat in the middle. Make it harder to pull me out.

Haha not meant to offend, but it's a Bugatti in name only.

McLaren

F1, just so I can open the engine bay and point out to people how wealthy I am with all the gold in the engine bay. Also because 3 seats with 2 other ladies mean you can have the fastest threesome...in the world!!

I just see one car there for me, Mclaren
![]() 09/20/2013 at 17:08 |

and what did they pick on facebook?
![]() 09/20/2013 at 17:10 |

F1 no doubt, ridden in both and I just love that damn center seating position

The F1 is faster around a corner, faster up to 200mph (and maybe even a little after that) is more beautiful, more technologically impressive, in better spirit, better to drive, and more iconic on a poster.
I don't care that it tops out 10-20mph slower on the top speed, a little bit of modern tweaking on that engine could solve that problem very quickly.

Same as here. F1

Since you're the only comment that says Veyron, could you explain what you mean by "more" than just speed? The F1 had its share of luxuries and innovation beyond just driving fast. I'd like to know what makes you choose the Veyron.
![]() 09/20/2013 at 17:22 |

F1, Because I loooooovvve gooooooooooooold.
Seriously, though. McLaren will always be superior, I believe it still holds the record for fastest N/A car. AND JUST LOOK AT IT, It still looks modern while the Bugatti looks worse over time (in my eyes).
![]() 09/20/2013 at 17:22 |

I have trouble believing anyone wouldn't pick the F1. As far as top speed and acceleration goes, it's barely slower than the Veyron while having slightly over half the power. Not to mention it weighs, what, around 2000 lbs less than the Veyron? Plus, at least in my opinion, the Veyron is a pretty ugly car.
![]() 09/20/2013 at 17:23 |

oh cool, if id done that on my facebook they would have picked the veyron, i think nobody would know the car below, no, i think nobody would have commented, nobody would be interested by it, i live in a place where petrolheads are scarce.
![]() 09/20/2013 at 17:25 |

The F1, because it would be more engaging.
![]() 09/20/2013 at 17:27 |

McLaren. Pure driver's car.

You don't seem very French?
![]() 09/20/2013 at 17:32 |

I don't see myself appreciating an F1 in the same way, as it's not a current hypercar, everything i've seen and read about it makes it race car for the road. I don't see the benefit of that when you can get the modern, faster equivalent that is also pure indulgence and luxury. I would take an XJ220 over an F1 too. Maybe i'm weird, i'm a huge fan of the MP4-12C...

F1.
One's an engineering marvel, the other is an engineering excess with piles of money crammed into its trunk.
McLaren F1 is said to have had one engineering clash during its entire development, while VW spent years just fixing the problem with the Veyron. The F1 is very close to an engineering perfection.
The Veyron was built to a spec (1000hp, 1000ft lb of torque, 400km/h) whereas the F1 was a carte blanche project for the ultimate car with its prodigious speed being a happy byproduct.
and the F1 comes off being more practical with three seats but a smaller footprint.
Give me F1 anyday.

I would take the F1 hands down.

F1
Am I the only one that thinks the Veyron looks like a lump of blubber on wheels. It also seems like it has no soul. Just my opinion...

Care to further elaborate on that chance?

I would be happy to, stay tuned on monday when I am off mobile and in front of my computer. Long story on both rides...

Great! It's awesome that some Opponauts have taken rides in cars as awesome as the F1 and the Veyron.

2 days ago I would've said Veyron.
