Does anybody know the location of pontiac 400 motor mounts on a trans am frame? Like, dimensions from the bottom and sides I just realized the motor will have to sit perfectly to allow for the shaker scoop to sit properly. My car came with a turbo 301, so there are no mounting holes for a 400. I have to weld the mounts in place and want to get it right the first time.

ouch. The Buick frames I have worked on always had two sets of holes, for the small and big V8s they could have had. Sorry that's not very helpful.

Last time I had to get a 'new' mount just right, I put the engine and transmission in, and let the trans mount do the front to back locating for me, then I put a level on the intake manifold/carb flange, and when it was flat I marked the mount's location on the frame.

Yeah, they should use the same mounts. My buddy had a 400, we pulled it and dropped in a built 350 SBCusing the same mounts and points.

I guess I could kind of check it tomorrow. Though with the engine still in and a lack of good reference points it will probably not be easy to get and good numbers. But if you want to I'll definitely give it a try.
