A Range Rover Sport. I'm pretty sure it was the one 'designed' by Bulimia Spice, and subsequently reviewed by James "Oh Cock" May on Top Gear.
From what I can gather, he was rather impressed by it's ability to get things done off-road, despite the 'design' decisions to make it more palatable to those with more money than aesthetic sensibilities. Hill-descent and all that seem to make it a surprisingly good off-roader, despite 99% of owners highly unlikely to want their prestige-mobile to get mere *dirt* on it.
I don't like it - it's too short (height and length wise), too over-wrought, and too.Damn. Much.
I didn't even want to look up how much it was in Canadian Avian Pesos, for the very idea that someone would pay that much (I'm quite sure it's comfortably in the six figure range) for something almost completely useless is rather depressing.
-Two doors, meaning putting anything (or, God forbid, *anyone*) into the back seats is an exercise in masochism.
-Super low - I'd end up giving myself a concussioin getting into it, I'm sure.
-Visibility - I'm not sure which would have move visibility issues- This, a Hummer H2, or a FJ Cruiser.
No. Just no.

Wasn't the Spice/May Rover the Evoque?
Would definitely go along with your description of it looking kind of squished.

Yup, you are quite right!
I actually wanted to call it that, but for some reason i thought Evoque was the 4 door lambo, which i now realize was the Estoque.
Well played!

What has the world come too, where we have 2 door Land Rovers and 4 door Lamborghinis!?
The only reason I remember that it was an Evoque on TG was because I was watching with my wife and she says "ooh looks it's designed by so and so spice and James May likes it". Then we saw it in real life and it looked like someone dropped it on it's roof.
Do you guys get Defenders in Canada? I'm still hoping they come back to the US one day.

I saw a Defender on the We[s]t Coast, but that was at least 5 years ago.
According to RR Canada, we get the RR sport, the (ugh) Evoque, LR2 and LR4, and the "all-new" Range Rover, so sadly, the Defender is not in their ranks.
Their's a stubby one (if you squint it looks like the love child of a Ford Exploder and a VehiCross) at a local Pick'n'Pull, but I imagine that much like German cars, there ain't no such thing as a cheap Range Rover.
Doesn't stop me from wanting it though!

Definitely no such thing as a cheap RR! Initial cost of entry will be low, but they will eventually get you in the end with repair costs and refilling the Lucas smoke. I've been looking for a Range Rover Classic for a long while now and they say 95 is the best year because it's right before they started implementing a lot of electronics (that of course fail often) and if you can find one that has already had the air suspension replaced with coils you are golden. But finding a nice rust free example has been like spotting a unicorn.

Rust-free? In Saskatchewan? Hah!
That would be like finding a reliable '70's Italian car.
