So my car ticked over (or blipped over I guess) to 123,456 miles. Also I finally got my Choisi back from servicing (after the jump)!!!

Kinja'd!!!

Hooray for odd '70s Swiss watches!

Milestone mileage! And sweet vintage Swiss timepiece!

Do you send your watches away or to the manufacturer for servicing or do you have a good local watchmaker?

Thanks! Also Choisi stopped making watches in the mid-2000s so I can't send it back to them lol. I use Ron George Jewelers in Annapolis and they seem to know what they're doing. Previously I had used Buddy Huguley but he's too expensive for the work he does. Service was $150 for refurbishing the crystal and cleaning the movement (total disassembly and reassembly). Also cost is dependent on the movement and watch type. I've had Bulovas serviced for as little as $60 up to $215. Generally servicing is good for 3-5 years.

Unless you have a Rolex, Tag, Breitling, Omega, etc. or want to keep the certification for accuracy it's not worth it to send the watch back to the manufacturer for servicing. There are dealers and service providers (Like Ron George and Buddy Huguley) that can service these movements. Just keep in mind that any Swiss watch not serviced and closed-up in Switzerland loses it's timekeeping certification (as-in it's no longer certified by Rolex to a certain degree of accuracy. The watch will still run fine & keep time).

BMW's fuel economy gauge. It just measures intake manifold vacuum and acts as a crude efficiency meter.

At idle it rests and when accelerating dips past the "12". Cruising usually sees it sit at around 30.
