Alberta's not exactly a driver's paradise, with long flat stretches of road that continue on as far as the eye can see (and the eye can see a long ways on those prairies). Still, a ride through a good part of southern Alberta (Prince George->Edmonton->Calgary->Lethbridge->Medicine Hat->Edmonton (via Drumheller)-> P.G.) sure reminds you how much superfluous shit we have on cars. It also a hell of a way to forget the hours of mindlessness at the office. Above is my bike under those lonely, prairie skies in a brief moment on Highway 2 when there wasn't any cars in the background. Still, those back roads (still straight as an arrow) can be fun in their own ways, passing farm after farm until I hit the badlands and the highway dipped into the coulee, which was a cool stretch of road. But what really hit me was getting back and realizing I did over 2000 kms and there was nary a complaint from the bike.

To be fair, the sky only gets so big. When everything is flat and there are no next to no trees, it's a vast palette of blue no matter where in the world you are.

I have driven highway highway 2? from Edmonton to Lethbridge. pretty boring. My friends in Edmonton tell me the 16 thru the Rockies is pretty spectacular and the rest of the the way takes you from frigid to scenic to hot on the way to Vancouver.
