Private Automobile Club [FS] - Car enthusiasts worldwide woke up to the shocking news that another automotive journalist attending a Subaru event enjoyed driving Subaru's new sport coupe offering, the BRZ. Sources indicate that after driving the car, the journalist raved about the purity of the driving dynamics and the low-slung seating position, but complained that the Subaru-hosted catering for the event didn't include Munster cheese.

Other sources report that the journalist praised Subaru for "keeping to enthusiast roots" by offering a manual transmission and unusable back seat, though lamented that Subaru likely wouldn't release a shooting brake option. He also indicated that the engine's output of 200 horsepower and 150 lb*ft of torque was "plenty" and "more than the average driver ever wants or needs, though I'm eagerly awaiting the STi version," as he downed yet another glass of Subaru-provided lager. The journalist then gave the "exclusive report" that the transmission operated "like the bolt on a gun," as he made the motion of loading a pump-action rifle, which he repeatedly insisted was the bolt-action motion.

When asked about the other models manufactured alongside the BRZ at Fuji Industries, the journalist said he would settle for the "more beige" Toyota GT86, but would not recommend the Scion FR-S, as it lacked the "feeling," "intangibles," or "rich rally pedigree" of the BRZ.

BRZ has rally racing pedigree? It isn't an AWD Subaru!

And it is built by the same machines and hands, from the same design as the "beige" GT86 and FRS.

They are the same damn cars, all built in a Subaru Factory.

This is why I don't read auto reviews much anymore, and why I am skeptical about the ones I do read. They drink the marketing koolaid, and take it seriously and it likely colors their view of the machine. Few reviewers actually move PAST the marketing speak to be objective about the vehicle itself.

This needs to be put on the front page ASAP. Also, I honestly thought this came from the Onion, so well done with the Satire.

That's about how my review went, though I purposely refrained from the rifle bolt analogy. Not that I wasn't tempted.
