So a similar approach that Mclaren took. I am very OK with this.

Bigger question, will the Veyron successor weigh less then a full sized truck?

I think gtspitit is making the assumption that this new car Bugatti is working will be a replacement for the Veyron; I don't think that's the case at all. I suspect it will be a smaller, lighter more track focused car to compete with the 458, mp4-12c, and so on.

full size truck...from the 80's? Have you weighed a full size truck lately? they are a full ton more than the veyron, but I see your point about the lardyness of the veyron.

Wouldn't that compete with the Gallardo?

2014 Silverado 1500 short bed reg cab curb weight: 4387lbs
Veyron curb weight: 4160lbs
I hardly count that as a full ton.

The Gallardo is on the way out. And since when is VW afraid to compete with itself? The R8 IS the Gallardo.

There's a reason for which the R8 has a V8 version, and there's a reason for which the R8 V10 is less powerful than the Gallardo. However I must admit you're right, VAG is most definitively not afraid of cannibalism.

True, the Silverado also happens to be the lightest full size truck on the market (by a minimum of 400 lbs), if you are looking at 4wd quad cabs, they are usually between 5200-6000 lbs. Heavy sucka's

I think they call it "competitive drive engineering"

I think think whatever is next will better be compared to 918,LaFerrari ,P1 and Huayra.

There is that possability too, but I know that they have been wanting to built a lesser bugatti for some time, there is a chance that they will let the Veyron live on as the halo car for another few years and instead focus on track cars with more volume and appeal.
