My fiancee works as an Engineer at a big company. And one of coworkers bosses's husband is the CEO of another company. My fiancee said (last week)
- "Her husband brings her to work every friday, they have a very beautiful car. He picks her up after work and then they go out somewhere. You should definitely see that car. It's gorgeus, people keep taking pictures of it."
- Do you know what car it is?
- It's a gray on black. But I don't know what it is.
- Is it a sports car, though?
- Yes. It has a very loud noise and looks very sporty. I'll ask her.
*that same night*
- It's a Ford GT.
- A WHAT?!
*I spent the following minutes explaining what the Ford GT was and why it's so special, and how much one costs here in Brazil. She said we should get together, and he knows about me. The ladies said we guys would get along well since we're both car geeks. I spent nights just fantasizing over driving a Ford GT*
She sends me an email this morning. Told me he was there again. It's not a Ford GT. It's a GT500. Words can't express my disappointment.

I understand your disappointment. As I was reading your post, I was getting excited (in a car way), and as much as I like GT500s, I was then disappointed.

My wife would not be able to tell me the make of the car so you've got one up on me there.

In her defense I don't like what they did the with S197 mustangs. The badge just says GT. So anyone looking at it thinks oh its a Ford GT. Anyone in the know would see right away its a Mustang GT variant. However I am on the fence because I like how it is subtle and doesn't have MUSTANG plastered all over it.

Yeah... I was really looking forward to ever being able to touch a Ford GT. Driving one was far out of anything I could hope for.
But on a brighter side, there's a Ford GT for sale on my way home. I wave a "hello" every time I drive past it. I found it on the internet, the guy's asking US$700,000.

Wow.......that's a lot of money. The next time you see it, say "hi" for me. ;D

When my wife and I were dating we would cruise car lots because... dunno, I like cars. So while she is not mechanical in any sense, she does have an idea about what make most cars are. We will be shopping for a new car for her Spring 2014 and she already has a list of cars she likes. Here is the list with a car she sent me this morning. While I agree with like 80% of the list, the car she sent me this morning I was like HELL YEA! On another note, are there any cars in this list which mechanically I should absolutely avoid?
Audi - TT (maybe) I would have to read up on them.
BMW - Z4
Porsche - 911 968 Boxster
Chevy - Camaro (late 60's or 2010+)
Chrysler - Crossfire
Dodge - Challenger
Ford - Mustang
Nissan - 350/370Z roadster
Mercedes - SLK Class
VW - bug

Well, my fiancee did nothing bad. She just passed the info that was given to her by the owner's wife.
I like it. I think it's very pretty and the lack of MUSTANG badges makes it cool. But still, it's miles off the coolness of a Ford GT. So sad now.

Sorry didn't specify. The lady she was talking to and getting fed this info.
Agreed.

My fiancee likes cars, but she's all girly and doesn't really care for brands, she cares for looks (although I'm taking her to drive on a Hot Lap event next month. I'm 99% positive on getting her hooked on racing once she gets a taste). But she knows how to recognize brands based on logos and fascia. I'm slowly getting her to know cars better. When we met she thought her friend's Vectra was the best car ever to give an idea.
And she gave me the info based on what the owner's wife told her. She was the one who said "Ford" followed by "GT".

HATE when people do stuff like that to me (What the boss' wife did, not your financoire, this wasn't her fault, she can't be expected to work well in such uninformed conditions). I get this a lot:
"Hey formula4speed, I saw a cool car today!!"
"What was it?"
"no idea"
"any recognizable features?"
"it looked fast"
"maybe a little more specific?"
"It was yellow"
"I hate you and you're fired from my life"

Apparently it was a garage queen. 2005 and only 785 miles? What a sad car this must be...

Sad, indeed. This car should be driven.

Hah! That's awesome!
I'm trying to get my lady hooked on cars, too. She loves to drive and I already showed her the pleasures of flooring a car on the exit of toll booths at highways. Her car is a manual and she'll drive it on a Hot Lap event next month. The only problem is that she has never ever driven a "premium" or a enthusiasts' car. Only beige and cheap ones. She doesn't know what a true driver's car feels like. We're on so tight schedules that we never get to enjoy such things either.
Anyway... excellent list. I really have no idea on all these cars, I have very little contact with them besides the bug, which can break very easily, but parts are cheap and are found around. And it's an excellent car to get to know basic mechanics.

Oh, this is much worse. My sister in law is one of these. She's a m.d. student and most of her colleagues are very rich. She often comes like:
"Oh, my friend has such a cool car. You should see it"
