How much performance can you get? No rules besides the price and something to back up your claim of "performance".
I've been missing around here lately, and if I'm honest even this is a scheduled post because I know I wont have time to post tomorrow. So, instead of Daily Drive, Track, or Burn, have this.
Here's my choice:
It's Italian, it's red, it only has two wheels, and I bought it last week.
It may only have 80 hp, but it also only weighs about 550lbs, even with me on it. With a little bit of concentration I can take it up to 60 mph in about 4.5 seconds but I'm working on bringing that down.
Note: The Delorean up top is a prime example of how not to play this game.

Combine the two interiors, heck, combine the two exteriors. It's your rocket.
Performance: 1/3 less weight. 3240 vs 2240 approx.
Er, correct for roll cage because this is is insane.

I would say find a used fox body mustang for 2500 bucks and bolt on a 1500 package of heads/intake/cam/and throttle body as well as 500 for 3.73 gears and you will have a 425hp beast that will scare the crap out of you. You will not lose and money and still get 24mpg on the highway.

2 wheels or 4?
2 wheels - Early Hayabusa or ZX12.
4 wheels - LT1 powered C3 Corvette or SN95 Mustang GT.
Not the sexiest 4 wheel choices, I know, but given the budget...
