Evening Opponauts. So a friend of mine and I want to go somewhere over February or April school break (one week), but we want it to be automobile-related. Looking for ideas or inspiration. I would probably film it, as well.

Criteria:

-Starting and ending in Vermont

-Can be anywhere on the eastern half of the US

-Should be a cool drive, but remember it's in February or April, so not super summer-y.

-Any kind of event/location is on the table (track, rally, car club, manufacturer plant - whatever)

-Can be non-car-related as well (taking the E24/whatever I have by then would probably be a must, although that would mainly be for April)

Any ideas? Just curious.

Lime Rock has not posted their 2014 calendar yet but that would make a great April trip. Connecticut River Vally Chapter of BMW CCA does track days there every now and then maybe one will coincide with your break.

They don't start that early in the season but New England Hillclimb Association does a lot of events in Vermont. I really want to do one some time next year.

Tough in the winter man. Nobody schedules car events for winter, especially out east. I'd say save your money, wait til summer vacation, and do her properly.

Although when I lived in Florida, it seemed like there was car stuff to do every weekend. So if you don't mind a long drive, I'd look there.

Florida was one of the options. My buddy has family down there, so we'd have somewhere to stay.

I'm quite familiar with the NEHA, actually. I've met a bunch of the guys who do it, and filmed the Ascutney climb last year.

Nice. They got Homestead-Miami, Daytona, and Moroso. There's bound to be something going on.

100 Acre Wood is in mid Missouri last weekend of February. it would be a long haul for just the rally, so maybe see if you can help crew for a team. it will be an all nighter Friday night. just a thought.

Easy, 24hrs of Daytona in late Jan/early Feb. Great weather in Florida that time of year and it will be the first running of the United Sports Car Series. You'll get to see the LMP cars plus Daytona Prototypes and a bunch of GT cars (my favorite).

I went 2 years ago for the 50th anniversary and it was awesome. You can get camping spots in the infield and it is basically a weekend long party. Tickets aren't expensive, I think they were less then $50, and if you sign up for the e-mails from Daytona Speedway you can get a deal. We went with a camper and it was $250 for the weekend with all access passes for 2.
