Finally got a bit of time this week to work on rebuilding my Spec944 engine. Pistons are actually in the block and attached to the crank.
Caps are all torqued down (sorry for the crappy pic) and the oil pan and pump are on.
The fun part with the oil pan is the three-stage torque sequence so you don't crack it.
With the bottom end all set, next will be the head, balance shafts, and accessories. Can't wait to get this thing in the car and actually drive again.

that is one crazy oil pan! is the engine at a slant in the car? please excuse my ignorance, or lack of googling right now. Cool stuff though!

Nope. I'm not that organized. I would be sifting through a bin to find a part.

It is. The bottom of the oil pan is parallel to the ground when the engine is in the car.

so is the engine completely flat, and the oil plug is down, or the fins go down-ish, and the oil plug is up-ish?

The block is at about a 45 degree angle in the car. So when I say the "bottom" of the pan, I mean the fins at the very top of the photo. That area is flat and sits parallel to the ground.
