The only difference between this and most Veyrons is the dust.

Asshat parking? Acceptable - yes. Would anyone notice if I came along with an engine hoist and "borrowed" the W16?

Someone needs to write "Use Me" in the dust.

maybe it's just dusty because Dubai is in the desert?

Not really, the difference is that most Veyrons leave other cars in their dust.

Except for, you know, fast cars, which easily beat the Veyron at pretty much anything.

If the Veyron was as fast as people think it is, there would be a lot more of them out there pushing the limits. It's a study in design, economics, and luxury, but really isn't anything other than a trophy car.

oh, right. Of course.

Someone fled from Dubai in the usual story.

It probably gets as much action as most Veyron's though.

I cringe that they backed up until the curb bumps the rear diffuser... seriously?

It is unfortunately just one of many

Here is one my my first Oppo posts that included several supercars found like this one.

Ehrm, flawed logic here. It is a 1.2 million dollar car. Most of the owners don't care how fast it goes, sadly (even though there are VERY few cars that can beat the Veyron at anything except gas milage). A huge amount of the customers buy it as a status symbol or investment. It is as fast as people thing, but there is no place for them to push the limit, except, of course, you know, the one that hit 268 MPH.

You can't say "flawed logic" and then explain, pretty much exactly, my point, as if I had typed something else.

Because they're bought as status symbols and investments, not as, you know, cars, most Veyrons end up sitting around anyway. The most action they'll see is the occasional rev up at a car show or some launch control douchebaggery on a track.

That being said, if you want to go in a straight line, the Veyron is only 10 seconds down a 1/4 mile. Most properly built ($40-$50,000) drag racers can come in under 10 seconds. It's not common, but its possible, and pretty much any serious tuned street car can do it too. Anything in the $100,000 range could decimate it and still be road legal.

Around a track? They're hideously slow compared to most supercars. Top gear even had a 2012 GT-R beat out the Veyron, and any modern performance car with some good racing slicks and a better driver (because you know the Veyron owner didn't get rich honing his driving skills) can out-corner one. The longer the straight, the better chance the Veyron has at winning though.

As for the top speed... not only does a McLaren F1 GT-R come close to that (with much less power) and a Koenigsegg Agera R or Hennesey Venom probably beat that, but all of those cars are nothing compared to 1980s Group C racecars or any bonneville salt flats vehicle. The Veyron is luxurious and expensive for the speed, but it is not a standard of measurement or the fastest thing on the road.

I'm not saying it's a shitty car, it isn't, and it makes up for its price tag in other areas, but to say it leaves cars "in the dust" is a bit of an overstatement when the car isn't being driven and when there are quite a few cheaper cars that are much faster in real life.

I meant flawed logic in the part where fast cars can beat it and pushing the limits type thing. Also, recommended for thorough reply. And, I would much rather have a Venom than a Veyron.
