I know I know I know. I cheated with reverse GIS though, so I won't post it. That thing's fucking awesome.

Pure guess: Mazda Carol?

Could it be a Cony 360?

Nobody's going to get this one right without reverse-GIS'ing; the manufacturer doesn't even have an English Wikipedia page for chrissake!

Looks like what a pretty, pretty princess would buy instead of a Hillman Imp, because it's so ":3 :3 KAWAIII!!!! :3" and not manly and British like an Imp.
Are you a pretty, pretty princess, Orlove?

It is! It's the Cony 360 Coach Light Van built in the '60s by then-former seaplane builder Aichi Machine. Mid-mounted, aircooled flat twin. The company was later bought by Nissan.

They kind of sort of do....sort of.

You sure? I'm quite sure this is a Cony 360 by Aichi Corp. I think I recognize the logo at the front.

Raph just replied to you confirming it, so yes. I reverese-GIS'd it (GIS as in Google Image Search) to find out, and my above post was referring to how extremely obscure it seemed judging from the results I got.

I know mate :) And the reason is that I've got this huge THING about old japanese cars. I thought it looked like something from this page http://www.earlydatsun.com/cony.html
![]() 09/11/2013 at 17:03 |

I actually had a favorite piece of Aichi hardware before this point: the D3A Val.

I find it amusing that everybody (including Raph) is getting all worked up about this Porky Pig colored van and ignoring his request for COTD nom noms....immaterial because this comment from Brian, The Life Of is clearly the winner (even though it was not written today).

Just pulling your strings mate :) It IS obscure as F%¤&, I've never met anyone else (IRL or on the web) other than me that knows about this brand. It's the same thing when I start talking about Gilbern, even blokes who love cars get that apathetic look when I start talking :)

I thought the 18 people that hit this one was a lot:

Dude, you can't put this travesty of a pseudopost on the FP mate... But as things are right now, I don't have the time to improve it either.. What the heck, throw it up there, I'll deal with the backlash later.

I would think so. Isn't that one of your national languages? (I forgot exactly where it is you live again)
![]() 09/11/2013 at 18:30 |
|
I'm in Sweden, and German is one of 2-3 (or 4, it depends on the school) languages you are forced to choose between in 6th grade as your third language (which you then have to study until 9th grade, with 10th-12th grade studies being semi-optional but incentivized). I'd say the vast majority, like me, view those classes with utter disdain and barely learn anything more than what's needed to pass them.
So yeah, my German's about as good as your *insert third language you never really studied much*.

I see. it's sort of like High School Spanish here. Just enough to get by. It is however becoming much more important here these days. I can understand it, to a point, but that just has more to do with my proximity to Mexico than education. My Japanese is pretty good though and has served me well as being a "bar trick"
![]() 09/11/2013 at 22:34 |

hah, it can wait - let me know if there's anything you put together that you think would be fun on the FP
![]() 09/12/2013 at 15:39 |

I'll do a piece on a '55 cadillac lowrider next week or the week after, that could perhaps be something for the FP. How do we contact you main players directly? I've never figured that out.
![]() 09/12/2013 at 17:56 |
|
directly? All us authors are easily reached by individual e-mails (I'm raphael @ jalopnik . com) and if you shoot something to the email tips @ jalopnik . com, we all get to see it. '55 Caddy sounds rad. Those early '50s Cads have such a different idea of luxury than the later blingier ones.

Thanks mate, I'm stupid you see, never really figured out the part of "how to contact the main culprits" thingy :) I'll tell you when the piece is done mate :)
