than I was 2 years ago at this time. I wish I had kept these both around. 87 Audi Turbo Quattro avant on Blizzaks and an 81 Yota BJ60 diesel on whatever tires it had. What are you rolling for the winter?

My M3 on studded hankooks. Just in the rear. Call me crazy. It shouldn't snow THAT much...
Jealous of the Quattro. As usual.

Same as Summer, just a different set of wheels/tires.

oh the BJ. I wish I could get the 1hd-fte diesel in my cruiser...for less than the price of 3 more cruisers that is.
My winter ride is my fzj80, and my wife will be rolling a sportwagen tdi manual with blizzaks.

'07 Focus (automatic) with all seasons, because I simply can't afford to purchase winter wheels/tires on my lowly wage.

just in the rear is a poor idea. i mean, unless your idea of snow is a 1 inch dusting 2x a year. Seriously, summer front (or even a/s) and winter rear is a bad idea.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Today's winter tires are better at providing ice and snow traction than ever before. The technology used to develop the tread designs and tread compounds has evolved beyond what you may have used previously. Every one of our tire manufacturers and 7 out of 10 vehicle manufacturers recommend four winter tires be used on rear wheel, front wheel or four wheel drive vehicles. This is because if you use two dissimilar types of tires on your vehicle, you'll have a vehicle that has a "split" personality. One end of the vehicle won't react and perform the same as the other in the dry, wet, slush and snow conditions you'll encounter before the end of winter. Especially in emergency situations, you'll find that your vehicle will probably understeer in one condition and oversteer in another. It is preferable to keep your vehicles handling as consistently as possible by "matching" all four tires. Our customers who have matched their tires tell us they're glad they made the extra investment in four winter tires (and wheels) so they can accelerate, brake, handle and better control their vehicle through winter's challenges."

Generally it's 0-1in dusting, we only get dumped on once, and last year it didn't happen. Have to get traction somehow, though. And summer tires are never applicable here.

1986 4Runner on 31" Goodyear Wranglers. Detroit Locker in the rear for sideways action and winch to pull me out of the ditch.

still fun. Just hose down that rear axle as often as you can. Those focus's seize all kinds of bolts back there if you dont!

I need to get a set of winter tires as my new baby has summers...can't believe it's creeping up on us already. Thanks for the reminder. I'll probably post asking for suggestions in a month or so.

Drives alright, but the old 22-re is tired with 325k miles on it. Interior is flawless. The right rear fender loved some rocks recently, but it looks good from 15ft away.

I did some research on the 22-re the other day. Im amazed how little power it has, but not remotely suprised you are at 325k mile. Those old Toyota truck engines were/are bulletproof.

just take mine now. Get some studded Hakkapellita 2 by Nokian. Drove many RWD Volvos through Maine winters on those.

I'll be driving a '97 Civic on studded tires. Does not snow THAT much in my part of Norway, hardly ever more than 6 inches a day, so a fwd beater does the job.

Peugeot 406 coupe on (with some luck) Peugeot 205 GTI wheels with winter tires.

Oh man do I like those 406 coupes...

Yeah, it's not surprising when the engine puts out 48HP/liter from a 2.4L. I just tore into my spare long block and it's hilarious to see how much bigger everything is than a 1.6L honda motor that puts out 100HP/liter. The engine is hugely overbuilt for the power it makes.

Yup, all too familiar with that. I took the "Colorado Worst Blizzard Ever 2006" season without issue in my old 5mt ZX3.

I'm so pumped for winter, I can't even tell you! Haha...love driving in the snow.

Yeah I have some 18" wheels with Summer tires and the stock wheels with snow tires.

As do I. It's my daily driver.
I own it for almost a year now (49-50 weeks). It had the yearly inspection/safety check today. It passed so easily I was confused. Total cost of ownership besides regular maintenance (filters/liquids/AC recharge) for one year and 23k km: one rubber bushing for the exhaust.

48hp per liter, eh? power monster! mine is 47hp/liter. Of course, there are many more liters to work with.
