I, too am looking at a Dodge Dart. Is this a NPOCP?

My search for a new car continues. I've moved away from the hatchbacks and into the world of Fiat. The Oppo post a few minutes ago reminded me that the Dart came with the 1.4L Turbo from the Abarth. So I decided to look around.

This is what I've found:

Now, I don't do upgrades. So I have no idea what this guy has done to his car. I don't know if I believe his mpg numbers or his horsepower numbers. What I'm interested in is figuring out if any of these mods are cause for concern. Especially since I know nothing about them.

Not sure how the warranty will work out. As for how it works up here, if the dealership can "reasonably show" that the after market part caused the reason for your visit to the service department, then you are on the hook for the cost of repairs. The bolt-on's don't void the warranty outright, but it does give the dealership an out to honoring engine work.

Also, the only reason he's selling is because he wants an auto? Why? Did he damage the drive train on this one? Is it not fast enough despite all his modifications? There is something the seller is not saying here. Personally I'd stay away.

I own this exact car, but with 17k miles. First set of Rallyes that were sent out to dealers. The upgrades are nice, but the price is not. For the same price you could get a cheaper less miles example and do the upgrades yourself.

The upgrades are something I don't give two squirts about. Thanks for the help.

Noted. No experience with the upgrade thing, so this warranty/dealer has an out info is great to know.

I may just have a test drive this weekend.

I would run far, far away. Call me a skeptic, but selling a car that new with so much work done 'just because you want an auto' is a giant red flag to me.

No problem. A bit more info on the car, I was pressed for time earlier...after over a year and 17k miles, no issues to report, other than the stock Continental tires wearing very badly to the point where I replaced them at 15k with some UHP Sumitomos...1.4T engine is lovely, have no trouble with the shifter, which some have said needs shorter throws to work properly, maybe because I have long arms that's not an issue. Fuel mileage is as advertised, I can manage 40 and even 45 or so if I become a miser, average now with my semi-lead foot and wife's normal one sits at 34mpg since we got it., that's about 80% highway miles as well. Ride is comfortable when cruising, but also very good in the corners, has good grip and a little bit of liftoff oversteer, even more grip since I changed the tires. Seats have been criticized by nearly every reviewer, I can only assume they didn't spend enough time in the car? I have driven it on multiple 7+ hour drives, and then back the next day, seats are great and comfy, even for a big guy (310 lbs). Also with the light clutch traffic and long drives are not a serious chore. To sum up, I'd definitely recommend the car with the 1.4T, and have to several folks I know.
