Shameless rip-off of today's !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , sure. But really. As I posted one response after another (limited to three cuz I probably should have been focusing on other things) I thought to myself: "what car moment stands out in my life?"

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

One moment for me was on a holiday (perhaps Easter) drive down to see family and we were stuck in traffic. I believe I was about 8 year old or so. My mom had told me about her first car, an early 70's red Ford Mustang that she would go to scrapyards and find parts for. While sitting in traffic, I looked out the window and saw a classic Mustang. I don't know what year and I don't care...all I remember is thinking that one day something like that would be mine.

(don't know what year hers was so here's a guess based on stories...though I am sure it was not a '73 convertible)

Probably that magical period in the early 2000s when I was able to test drive all sorts of expensive shit freely, because everybody would assume that any nerdy-looking unshaven slacker coming in was some kind of internet millionaire.

Getting to drive a Caterham earlier this year was something that I doubt I'll ever forget, as was getting to drive the mini on the Dragon for the first time this summer. I think the Caterham wins though.

Must've been when I got my license and could drive my 1979 Opel Kadett with a 2.0 litre Opel Manta engine alone for the first time.. Or the first time I drove a 911 Turbo... not quite sure which are the most iconic really...

Getting taken around the TopGear track in a Lexus LFA this summer was amazing , but driving a Nissan GT-R tops most things. I would say driving a manual Murcielago, but that was two months after passing my test, so it was a bit intimidating TBH. Open-gate gear shift was fun, though!

I was 16, and my Great Uncle Butch had just bought a 2006 300C with cash, so this was in late 2006, and I was in the middle of high school, and they kept pushing us to figure out what the hell we wanted to do with our lives.

At a family reunion, we all decided to go to my Great Aunt's house (Butch's sister) and I asked if I could ride with Butch. He laughed and said ok. I was in the front seat of the car, and we were in Fresno. Suddenly the light turned green and he said those famous words: "Watch this!" and floored it. The nose shot up, and the 5.7 roared as the tires lit up. I was thrown back into my seat.

Up to that point, I didn't much know about, or care about cars. I still didn't know what I wanted to do after high school either. Suddenly, in a brief second, I knew that I wanted to be an automotive writer, and became obsessed with cars.

It gets better though. In 2010, we received word that Butch had passed. My grandfather bought the car from his estate, and I got to drive it around. Shortly before he himself passed in 2012, he told me that after he was gone, the 300C was mine. Not my dad's, not my step-grandmother's, but mine.

Yes, at 22, I own the car that got me to fall in love with cars in the first place. This car literally changed my life, and now she's mine.

One month in mid to late 1991, I was reading the latest issue of 4Wheel & Off-Road Magazine. I saw a review for the new 1992 Dodge Dakota running the new for '92 5.2L Magnum V8. That engine had 230 hp, a 60 hp increase over the same engine from the previous year. Even as I kid I understood that full size truck engine + 60 hp + mid-size truck body = fun, capable beast. In the amount of time it took me to read that review, I went from wanting a Dakota to needing one.

Probably the moment I stepped through the gates at GoodWood Festival of Speed, heard the distant thunder of old Can Am cars flinging themselves up the hill and thinking 'this is a place where I belong'.

Husband and I took turns driving 250km on a twisty mountain road in our deathtrap of a car (Rover Mini Cooper S) during a very dark, heavy downpour. It was bloody iconic.

One of my good friends' dad is a huge Mopar fan, and last year he bought a Charger SRT8 Superbee. We were hanging out at his house one day when his dad came out and said something along the lines of "I'd give you a ride, but I just had a beer. Do you want to take it around the neighborhood?" That was an amazing car, it easily lit the tires up even with traction control on. To this day that's the fastest thing I've driven, but I'm still young!
