…6 minutes and 57 seconds. Just confirmed at the Porsche press conference in Frankfurt.

Given that the McLaren P1 is rumoured to be struggling to set a time faster than seven minutes, that's a hell of a gauntlet to lay down. Come at me, bro!

It makes you wonder if AWD torque vectoring is the next killer feature in performance. McLaren and Ferrari have focused their efforts on making aerodynamically efficient, rear-wheel drive hypercars – Porsche might just have leapfrogged them both.

I think the GT-R set that precedent, despite being heavier and underpowered (not unlike the porsche) it is unfathomably fast on a track.

According to one user at Fourtitude Forums, the lap time was not done with the production spec rear wing.

I believe Ferrari have already complained to the FIA.

If you think about it a properly balanced AWD system should give better acceleration out of slow corners than any 100% RWD car. A little front grip to take some of the power away from the rear tires should allow you to apply power on exit more effectively.
