Kinja'd!!!

Had an idea of doing genre characters with a car from the year of their inception. In this first case, Link with his 1986 Mustang SVO. If you would like to see more let me know, also if you have any ones you'd like to see.

Hipster Link?

No, I was going for an 80's vibe. Were it hipster Link, he'd have a plaid button up. Are Raybans a hipster thing? Fucking hipsters got to ruin everything.

I'm thinking Spider-Man and a very, very early 911.

Captain Falcon with a 1990 Mazda RX-7 Turbo, they were meant for each other!

This (painted like the Blue Falcon ) plus this:

And here's some music to get you in the mood:

That's a good one. I'm going to compile a list and do them as often as I can.

How about Lara Croft in 1996? i figure she'd drive something off-road-ish maybe. A Wrangler? a Defender?

What do you think of this? 1996 Toyota Previa.

I dunno, would she drive a Previa? it seems kind of mundane, given the character. I dunno, she's British, maybe a RHD Jag XJS?

what made you think SVO?

Oddly enough I just saw a very clean blue SVO in the wild at a gas station yesterday. Some old ass guy driving it

You should totally do 97 refresh NSX and Cloud from FFVII, because 90s.

I was trying to think of more off beat vehicle. I think it should be 4wd though, Defender is the obvious choice since it's British. Any other British SUV's beside Land Rovers?

I always thought they were cool is all. I don't think I've ever seen one in person before, but I'm sure when I do it will be an old ass guy driving it.

Really? I've seen a hand full in person but never out in the wild. It was in good shape to, not a mint show car but very solid for being over 20 years old....

It helps to go to an event like the All Ford Nationals in Carlisle PA, which is like the biggest ford show in the world. You usually find a bit of everything there, plenty of SVO's.

Kinja'd!!!0

Not that I can think of. the real issue here is a lot of the great off-roaders that would be off-beat wouldn't have been around in 1996. OOH, how about an off-road prepped Eagle Talon? they were available in AWD. she would have had to have imported it, being a DSM product, but her family was well-off enough for that to have been possible.

I'm sure I've seen them before I knew what they were. My father lives about 15 minutes from the fairgrounds, I don't know why I haven't been to that one.

Damn cool idea and execution. My hat's off to you, sire. :)

Wanna do book characters as well? I'd quite like to see Rincewind (Discworld series) rocking an '83 SAAB 900 Turbo. Possibly slightly broken down. :D Pics for reference:

No worries if you can't manage it time- or interest-wise, I draw an occasional scribble myself. I just figured you wanna do a series of these. If you want others to join the fun, lemme know. I didn't wanna steal your idea. :)

Discworld is fantasy/comedy/satire with heavy parallels to present day and actual history. That's how I'd put it, anyway. Depends which book you pick up. :)

I would do it if you like. I'm eventually going to do all the ones requested tonight, but you're more than welcome to do some of your own. He seems like a very vibrant and expressive character from what google images reveals.

This is what I was thinking of from the title.

If you're talking Jim Hammond Human Torch(pictured), Ferrari wasn't making cars in 1939, but if Johnny Storm Human Torch, then I'm sure there were Ferrari's self imolating in 1961. How about the 250 GT?
