Oppo,
I am sorry for my absence over the past few months. I've wanted to spend time with you. But I've just not been able to find the time. I've seen your friend FP often, maybe he's told you. But I want to be with you Oppo, so here is what I've been up to. I sold the scout I shared with you on occasion. Sorry, but it was time for it to go. I also sold my WRX. I moved to Detroit. Started a new career with Chrysler. Got a Shiny new Jeep to drive, which will be replaced with a shinier, newer Ram in a few weeks. Now, I'm moving again, this time to Louisville.
I also got a new car, and I want to share this one with you. Its my 5th AMC and 10th car, not including my company provided rides. It's a 1963 Rambler Classic 550. That sounds fancy, but the 550 series was the base model. She was the car of the year according to Motor Trend. Unlike most 63 Classics, mine has its factory installed 287 V8. You see, Oppo, the Ambassador was the Classics prettier twin sister, and she hogged all the V8's until February, 1963. Only about 300 Classics had the baby 8 that short production year. She also has 3 column shifted, manual gears. A mirror, heater, AM radio, and clock round out the short option list. She's not the prettiest car, but she's aged amazingly well. Her original blue ceramic coated exhaust still hangs underneath. The original brown primer coats the torque tube driveline. Some of the hoses still have AM logos on. Most of the paint seems to be original. The Wisconsin insoection sticker from 1969 sticks to the window to this day. I even signed a title dated 1969.
But enough about me Oppo, what's new with you?

What a great story. It brings back memories for me. I had neighbors growing up that only owned AM cars. Different, they were. Thanks for the trip.

I demand pics! Welcome back.
What's new with me? I am starting to a new game on Final Fantasy VI; seemed like a good idea.

As to me, I got a '63 Ranchero. In slightly worse shape than your AMC. Slightly.

Dude, that's awesome. What's sending you to Louisville? You didn't have much time in Detroit.

Let's just say this is not one of my finest hours... Totally my screw up, by the way, too much speed, too much rain, too much traffic, too little rubber, but at least I managed to avoid any serious damage
Even the lights all worked still, but I had to replace the radiator and then send him in for bodywork. Hopefully, he'll be back to his former glory next week.

I'm the Parts and Service Area Manager for 17 Chrysler and 1 Fiat store in and around Louisville. Detroit was always going to be temporary while I trained, but I interned last year and was placed on the fast track to the district, so it was much more temporary than originally planned. I've been commuting weekly for almost 2 months already.

Wow, that was quick. How was Detroit for you?

Hahaha nice graphics. I would've loved to keep the Scout, but it needed more work than I ever had the time or cash to give it, and I needed money to furnish my apartment. I wasn't really planning on buying a car, I just found the Rambler, lowball end the Carlos guy, and he took it to my shock. If it needed any work at all, I would've passed since I still have no time or place to work on a car.

I absolutely love downtown and the majority of the metro. It gets a bad rap for a few bad areas that it doesn't deserve. I hope to work my way back one day.

I love Falcons and their Ranchero brethren, the 63 was the high point for both models in my mind. Such clean, simple lines and great sizing.

Pardon my ignorance, but what sort of interesting vehicle am I gazing upon here?

Here is the only other picture I have on my iPad. I'll be cruising it Saturday, I'll try to get pics and post them to Oppo.

Hope you found some great stuff.

That's the appeal for me. My family had little else back in the day, and even today there are 5 other AMC's spread amongst me, my father, my sister, and my grandfather. As I mentioned, this is my fifth. I have a 1972 Javelin AMX restomod project and had a handful of Eagle wagons. They are different, and I may be a bit as well lol

It's a 1995 Fiat Tipo Sedicivalvole. The engine is the same Twin Cam unit that once equipped Lancia's rally Delta Integrales, minus the turbo, so this car is actually a little faster than it looks like.
Of course, getting carried away by that to the point of recklessness in the kind of streets we have in Brazil can easily lead to disaster.

Oh I have. After interning last year and living in Rochester Hills, I knew I'd live in the city proper if I ever moved there, and so when I did move I got a loft just east of downtown. The culture, entertainment, sports, food, and beer in the city and its metro are fantastic and the affordability is unmatched for a large city. Not to mention the massive car scene found on Woodward and other areas. I'll miss it, even though Louisville is very cool too.

Very cool, unfortunately America was largely deprived of Italian design and quirkiness since the 80s or so, minus a handful of exotics.
