Tonight seemed like a good night for Chinese, with that in mind I went to my favorite Chinese take out place, and was in the process of driving home when lo and behold, a Brabus Smart appeared. Normally if I saw a Brabus Mercedes I would probably try and snap a picture, as any good jalop would, for SR20 purposes, but since it was a Smart I was not as motivated.
It did get me thinking though about some of the other cars Brabus has worked on, and that got me thinking about the Gumball 3000. Now with tuned Smart cars, cross-country rally racing, and the prospect of delicious General Tso's chicken dancing around in my brain an idea was hatched. A cross country race with only two requirements, some of you may have guessed it already, every car entered must have less than 80 cubic feet of interior volume and 4 cylinders or less. So instead of the usual supercar parade, we would have a wild pack of superminis gallivanting across the country.
For me, the choice of car for this run would a Fiat 500 Abarth, but I'm curious what cars any other rallyers would bring. So with that in mind, what would you choose? Keep in mind this would be a multi day trip, and while a co-driver is recommended, it's not required.

Good question. Difficult question. I think you nailed it with the Fiat. I may want to actually skip the Abarth bit though. Heard one of these last week for the first time, and cross country with that exhaust might just drive me crazy and into a ditch.
I'd certainly give one of these a try too (if I could get my hands on one).

I would definitely take a Smart Roadster if I could, I even like the ForFour, although that wouldn't qualify for this race. It's a shame that the closest we ever came to a Roadster here, is the Smart ForTwo converible.

I'd go ahead and use an NA Miata.
