If you think about it, Porsche, Lamborghini, and McLaren all celebrated their 50th anniversary this year. Why is it that in 1963 all these legendary companies officially come into existence? Maybe it was a coincidence? Maybe not? Anyone care to shine some light on the subject?

Porsche is not celebrating their 50th, just the 50th of the 911

that's to commemorate the 50th year since the first abarth 500... not 50 years of the 500, nor 50 years of making the 500. just that 50 years ago they made the first abarth 500...

Technically that's ABARTH'S 50th, not Fiat.

Porsche was founded in the early 1930s - the 911 went into production in 1963. Lamborghini was more a coincidence as they released the 350 GTV for the 1963 Turin Motor Show after Enzo Ferrari told Ferruccio Lamborghini to get bent in the late '50s/early '60s. McLaren Automotive (F1, MC4-12C, P1) wasn't founded until 1989 (but McLaren Cars were making bespoke stuff for the OEs earlier than that). McLaren racing started in 1963 when Cooper didn't want to use a larger engine in their race cars but Bruce McLaren did, so he broke off and started McLaren.

That was around the time when a lot of racing organizations stopped letting individuals enter, and only official teams could enter major races and earn points toward a championship. I don't know specifics, but it might have something to do what.

Porsche celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the 911. They came into existence in the early thirties and became a car company after the second World War(according to wiki).
