I'll vote stupid. The only cars that look good without a hood are hot rods, muscle cars, and Pro Street cars. In the case of muscle cars and Pro Street cars, they must have a blower or high rise intake and at least 50% of the engine covered in chrome.

It's either one hell of an overheating issue, or a sad example of when people upgrade their whole car only to run out of money for minor things like hoods...and brake pads...and oil...
