Nexus 4's currently on sale for $250 for the 16gb model. It's likely that it's on a clearance sale. Do you think I should get it? Or wait for a possible Nexus 5, which only have been rumored with wild speculations instead of actual leaks. At $250, the Nexus 4 is still a fantastic value, but new would be new...

I'm currently using a Windows phone, !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! the last time when I had a phone related question, but my first phone was an Android phone which I had run JB on.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Any thoughts?

UPDATE: Great. Now there's a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! to confuse the hell out of me.

I have one. It's a good phone. You should buy it. That's super nice price for no contract.

About two shakes away from buying one just on principle. But if you don't need a phone and you aren't unhappy with the one you have...
I hate MS with a passion though so I would switch instantly.
Do you have LTE in your area? How far are you from a new contract? Do you want to go pre-pay? Or are you on someone's family plan (no shame in that - it should be done of possible)?

Or you could just wait for the Nexus-6 models.

(Hey, you crossposted on the Observation Deck so you should have expected this.)

1. I have a contractless plan.

2. There is LTE in my area.

3. I am fine with Windows Phone 8, but it's missing a lot of stuff that I got used to on an Android phone. Mostly apps and file format support. The UI and the Nokia hardware are perfectly fine otherwise, and it works.

It'd ultimately be a luxury. A cheap and slightly outdated luxury.

Totally sticking this on a Nexus 6 if it ever comes out.

After a first gen, 3GS and iPhone 4 for the past half decade, I gotta say the Nexus 4 is the best phone I've ever owned, and I whole heartedly recommend it to anyone. It was worth the full price I paid, and now its on sale I think if you want a phone you'd be foolish to ignore this (unless you're a really huge apple fanboy).

Sure, it isn't perfect. The Camera is good, not great and I find managing my music to be a bit of a pain, but it works really well and tweaking it to your liking is easy.

I have one. I have used it since November 2012. I've been using Android phones since 2.3, and the Nexus 4 is one of the best Android phones I've used. I have no issues with the performance; in fact, it's performance is what made me dissatisfied with the performance of my original Nexus 7.

The only thing I dislike about the Nexus 4 is the relatively large size; I personally prefer a more compact phone.

Camera being subpar is alright. I'm used to budget phone quality, so it'll be an improvement either way.

Aside from that, I had been using Android before I switched to WP8, so it'd be just a matter of restoring my previous setup.

Sounds like you and I are in the same boat. The Nexus 4 is a pretty slick phone, but there's two things holding me back:

1. My current phone (LG Optimus 7 - a Windows Phone) is made by LG, and I don't care much for the hardware at all. The touch screen has locked up more times than I can count. I'd rather not give my money to LG again. I guess this is just me though...
2. The glass back of the Nexus can shatter pretty easily. Out of the 3 people that I've known that have had one, two have ended up broken (both within a very short period of time). If you do get one, get a decent case for it.

Other than that, I'd have no qualms about getting one. I too, have been quite tempted to jump aboard the Android ship. (I've been wanting to do some Android development as well).

Yeah... My LG Bluray player randomly stopped reading DVD disks... I'm not quite confident in their reliability.

I've got one. Personally, I miss having the AOSP browser from the earlier Nexus devices (like the Galaxy Nexus whose LCD screen cracked, leading me to get the N4), but Chrome is still a pretty good browser for the mobile environment (and if I cared enough, I could always root my phone & install it). The only other thing I find bothersome (which again - has a pretty simple solution), is that the phone really wants to have a cover for it. The back looks fancy, but if there is even the slightest incline, the N4 really likes to slide down and away (again - a bigger adjustment for me, because the Galaxy Nexus had a VERY grippy concave back).

As a device, I haven't run into any issues with it at all as far as its functionality.

The newer N4s have little nubs on the backside, which is suppose to alleviate the problem. I'm going to miss my current Nokia's smooth, but not slippery matte surfacing...

I would be getting a clear case for an N4. Don't want to hide the bling either.

Oddly enough, I've had good luck with our LG Blu-ray player, but bad luck with our Toshiba (which I thought would have definitely been better than the LG). The LG TV we have has also been fine.

I only got mine a couple months ago, and I don't notice any nubs. :\ It's something to keep in mind, and hopefully the clear case'll take care of that.

Hmmmmmm. Maybe they're getting rid of really old stock? I don't mind as only a few physical updates were made to the N4 over the months. In fact, I would be completely okay if nubs were nonexistent. They have a potential to drive me nuts on an otherwise perfectly smooth backside.

I have a Nexus 4. It's the best phone I've ever had. A nexus 5 will probably be better and have LTE. But $250 for an unlocked phone of this caliber is pretty awesome.

Are you on AT&T's network or T-Mobile's? I'm on AT&T and the not having 4g for AT&T's network thing kept me from buying one of these.

I'm told that if you're using T-Mobile's network the internet speeds are pretty decent, on AT&T's network they are pretty slow.

I saw that on Engadget as well. I'm not so sure I like the size though - it looks like it is a pretty hefty size, and also made by LG (if people on the intertubes are correct).

I'm on T-Mobile and the Nexus 4 would piggyback off its HSPA+ 42 network, which is considered the best of non-LTE networks. Apparently T-Mobile's HSPA+ is faster in speed tests than Sprint's LTE despite the LTE network having higher theoretical numbers.

If someone can confirm form factor, I may just get the Nexus 4 right now.

Yeah if you're on T-Mo you should be good with the Nexus 4. My friends LTE Sprint phone seemed to be about the same speed as my old HSPA AT&T phone.

You might wait until the Nexus 5 comes out if you're planning on keeping your phone for two years, the fragility of the 4 is the other factor that also affected my choice not to get it. I'm not 100% convinced that it will hold up well for two years.

If you're well informed on the fragility and are cool with that gamble or already have picked out a heavy duty case then get the 4 before its sold out, it's pretty awesome outside of those few things.

how much do you use your phone? if you don't use it that often, or, gasp, you use it as a phone, then a Nexus 4 is great. if you run a ton of newer apps, surf the web a lot, etc., then holding out for the Nexus 5 is worth it, but know that you aren't going to get one unlocked for $250 without a contract.
