I always wants to import a Crown Vic. Especially the one that looks like this. Because police car.Yes, it's sounded like a bad idea of owning a crown vic in country like Indonesia, where it's always 80-100F everyday, but because in here you basically can import anything, why not?
And another issue maybe parts, because we're never ever see one of these.
What do you think, opponauts?

The air conditioning on those are supposed to be pretty good. Lots of cheap parts out there. Why not. A bit wide and others will probably assume you are American government right off the bat. That can be good and bad depending on the mood of the times I suppose.

Do it! If you end up not liking it, sell it, profit?

Be an importer?

I know the thought process, however my preference on the same theme is the caprice/impala ss

No, the problem is not the AC.
The engine cooling.
I'm affraid it's not designed for a very hot condition.

That's a great idea!
But being an importer is a bad Idea. It's really hard to get all the documents to be an importer.

I'm in the same boat. I love the Crown Victoria and might import one. It'd be really hard to justify, but they're so incredibly cool (and rare around here). Also, if I got the Police Interceptor that'd be even more awesome, because:

I do want the Caprice, but i think it's kinda too old.

If we learned anything from that Maltese video, it's that looking like an American ambassador could be a potentially terrible thing.

Yep, the bluemobiles!
In here they even don't exist..

A large number seem to be running around the Gulf. You'd probably be ok.

These were always "special and cool" to see on the streets, but don't forget that they were "re-maintained" Every Damn Day by competent mechanics with a host of spare parts. Sooo, you're gonna need say five (complete vehicles) to keep just one running on a daily basis.

Of course i won't driving it on a daily basis.
I still have a merc to do that.
Maybe for some kind of road trip or at the weekend.

Damn logic and reason! The Crown Vic is certainly going to be cheaper and easier to source parts as well as being newer. Probably more reliable too.
I do like the Crown Vic but it does make me think of yellow cabs more than the law, If I had one it would always be a reminder that it's not the one I really wanted.

Ex-police cars are usually equipped with extra engine cooling capabilities. Just make sure you import a Crown Vic that's done police duty, instead of one that was a taxi.
![]() 09/01/2013 at 11:18 |

Nah, of course i won't drive an ex-taxi Crown Vic.
The only American taxi that i would drive is the Checker.

They use these all over america I am sure the cooling system is just fine.

Look for ex-Vegas PD (or any Nevada PD's) vehicles if you're worried about overheating. It averages around 40C in August so I doubt they'd have overheating issues.

That would be awesome!
Because Vegas.
Now what I need is only time for the paperwork..
Yes, you can technically import anything, but the paperwork would be a huge pain.

They're designed to be useable in places Death Valley with an average high temperature of around 110F. Also New York City in the summer is always over 85-95F with a constant 90% Humidity and The Crown Victoria is the Taxi of choice. As long as you get a Police Interceptor, you will never have cooling issues.

I'm going to echo what others have said. We may have more pronounced seasons, but anywhere in the southern us gets HOT in the summer. Like 115F hot. Like 100 with 100% humidity (I know, but that's Houston for you). The only reason you don't hear more about it is because people are running a/c full blast for the entire summer. I think your cruiser will do fine

I suspect they'll be available for a steal as US departments are moving on to the Taurus Intercepter and the new Chevy cop car.

Ya, i 've seen that.
It's looks awesome. But nowhere as cool as the Vic. It's just not sleepy enough.

that's my point, the old ones will be cheap, now to get one shipped to Indonesia!

I own a 1998 Crown Victoria and in the summers where I live the temp can get up to 103-113F . The car doesn't even acknowledge this, the P71 comes with a transmission cooler and the 2003+ cars come with a chunkier radiator. Heat is not a problem for this car, even my 98 can get by without an issue. If you decide to import one get a new intake manifold for it, as Ford originally made them from plastic and the coolant crossover tends to rupture, they sell updated ones that use metal for the crossover and if your imported one doesn't have one get one ASAP, that is the biggest flaw in the cooling system.

Plastic?
What?
Of course I'll put the one with metals in it.

Blame the bean counters at Ford.
