Welcome to One Car Garage, in which I choose a manufacturer, and you decide one single vehicle that they make or made (no matter how old, no matter how exclusive) to live with for the rest of your life. This is your only vehicle, and all expenses are paid for, including price of entry, insurance, gas, etc.
It didn't seem as if !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! was as big of a hit as some the the automakers featured in the past, so today we'll leave South Korea behind and head over to England to pick for ourselves a Bentley to live with.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Being not a huge fan of Bentleys, I went into this a little pessimistically. 15 minutes on the mighty interwebz, though, introduced me to a whole slew of impressive coach-built cars such as the awesome all-wheel-drive !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! and the swoopy !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . These coach-built machines were not actually offered by Bentley themselves, though. In order to keep with the spirit of the game, I'll go ahead and avoid these creations and instead opt for the original Bentley SUV, the Dominator. The Dominator was one of several models commissioned by the Sultan of Brunei in the 90s. Not too much is known about it, other than the fact that it is heavily based on the Ranger Rover. I can imagine it's quite a plush ride indeed.

I'll take an 8 Litre. With a roof, I suppose, so that it has *some* practicality...

cant decide right now

That is all. Thanks for playing.

Well, if it's going to be my only car, I want it to be something comfortable, stylish, and practical. The 2014 Flying Spur Speed would do quite nicely.

This one:
I'm KIDDING! It would be a Continental GT Speed, family transportation be damned. There's something about this car that gets me every time...

Anything with this body style. Especially the Brooklands and Arnage T.

I've long considered the Bentley Continental T to be my favorite Bentley, though I wasn't familiar with the R 420.

The first one!

I don't understand all of the hate regarding the new Bentley SUV. Bentley is a luxury brand, and with all of the space the an SUV provides, I can imagine they can pack quite a lot of luxury into it. I see the Continental GT to be more a stray from what Bentley has been known for for such a long time. In my mind, the CGT can't make up it's mind about whether it wants to be a sports car or a luxury car, and as a result turned out to be mediocre at both. It still makes a decent GT, though.

...and then I go and stumble upon this awesomeness and find myself quite conflicted.

Conti GT wagon?
They exist.

Definitely one of my favorites as I was researching for this one. I couldn't find any that were offered by Bentley themselves, though. :(

I think the hate for the Bentley SUV concept is because it's ugly, really damned ugly . The design language from the GTC (and whatever other models they tried to steal from) doesn't work here. It looks trashy, like they wanted to make it as chavvy as possible straight from the factory, instead of letting some crazy tuner do it for them.
It's strange, because look at their new Flying Spur sedan. It strikes all the right notes - looking subtle, powerful, luxurious, and every bit a Bentley, from all angles. This SUV concept does virtually none of that.

Took .2 seconds to decide ..... class.

They are one-offs. You have to go ask bentley to build one for you.
I remember seeing one somewhere in Saudi.

I'll take a Bentley Muslanee Mulliner: Big Power, Big Luxury. Go Big or Go Home.

Oooh, I didn't realize that. :D

I don't care that Bentley wants to make an SUV. If the Porsche Cayenne has showed us anything, it's that the market exists. I just have to believe that Bentley can come up with a nicer design than that monstrosity.

Ya. Some say the conti GT wagon cost you 1.3M

If you're allowed to pick the Dominator, then I'm allowed to pick the Hunaudieres.
Seriously though, I'm cool with a Turbo R

Is this limited to road cars? If not, I'll go with the Speed 8:
I'm really not interested in anything else Bentley made or makes currently.
Except perhaps the Mulsanne:

That one.

The Speed 8 counts! It'll make a hell of a daily.

I have to agree - these are my favorite Bentleys. All the old school style, luxury and presence, but without the goofy Spongebob Squarepants face of the Mulsanne.

WAIT! I changed my mind... Continental Supersport. .2 seconds slower than the GTR in the 1/4 mile and only .1 second slower to 60.

This site is really making me go insane.

I agree that their modern cars aren't too appealing, but their old racing cars are pretty epic. Do you really not like these?
![]() 09/03/2013 at 16:03 |

To be honest, I know very little about them and that stems from not being very interested in them in the first place. I admire them and the guys that raced them, think they're cool and would drool all over one if I saw one but I don't desire to own one. :/

I can understand that. They were something that barely registered for me on the automotive landscape for a while, until a couple years ago I went to Pebble Beach and Bentley was a featured make. Seeing them in person gave me a new appreciation for them. I still don't quite lust after them, because there is essentially no chance that I will ever own one and I mostly try to obsess over cars that are within reach, but if I did have tons of money to blow on cars, an old Bentley would probably be on my shopping list.

"I mostly try to obsess over cars that are within reach". This, well put. If I had the funds perhaps my interests would change, but for the time being I try not to yearn for [too many] things I'll never be able to have.

1965 Park Ward drop top. Love these cars!

Tempting to say a Speed 8 or old 4.5L Blower, but an Arnage Final Series is IMO the Bentley-est Bentley.

A Continental GT, so I can take it rallying.
