There has been a lot of talk of chrome recently. I personally think that when used correctly and when it works with the design of the car it looks great.
When used as an after thought or to classy up a design It looks awful,
So Oppo, what do you think?

Chrome rims on most cars (especially modern ones) are a big nay.

I think DUBnation, Lexani, any of that ilk are to blame for ruining chrome rims.

The Tundra reminds me of a Klingon.

Maybe if it is a reasonably sized wheel, with many spokes. But not massive expanses of it. If you must have chunky spokes then polished or machined is the way to go.

A Klingon with no sense of honor or style maybe.

Always loved chrome, growing up admiring the cars of the 30's-50's, and really bemoaned its neglect in the age of blackout-trim (and abuse as stick on plastic on neo-classic retromobiles for the Greatest Generation). I was glad to see it come back, but now the pendulum seems to have swung the other way and it is either overused, or used improperly. It doesn't need to go away, but it needs some serious attention!

Eh, Chrome is OK. I prefer Firefox. Just so long as chrome is used sparingly, or in a tasteful manner, I'm on with it.

The deltawing is awesome on it's own why does it need to be wrapped in chrome?!

Looks nice, is incredibly heavy. Crome alternatives always look chintzy to me.
Above all though, it cannot be on a car that uses plastic too. Chrome should be used to make a beautiful car shine, not to make an ugly car try to look good.
Good Chrome:
Bad Chrome:
That's right. I went there. The CTS-V's chrome is completely silly and unnecessary. Nothing else on the car has chrome, and in the wrong color (that deep red they have) it looks horribly cheesy.
Terrible Chrome:
Even this CTS SCCA Race car is trying to get rid of its Chrome!
Apparantly it is balls-hard to remove the Chrome trim on the CTS-V too, much to the dismay of many-a-murdered-out enthusiast.
Best Chrome:

I like the look of chrome on the CTS-V, albeit in red as you mentioned it looks super chintzy. I wish Cadillac would just design a better grille, their other attempt hasn't been that great
Edit: they are headed in the right direction on the new CTS however
exizeo - still loving fourza

What about BBS LM? Those are chrome, and those look amazing.
But the donk style rims (or any rim, chrome or not, over 20 inch on non-SUVs) look like shit.

To be fair they probably did it to make it more visible on the track, you remember what happened last time

Chrome can be tastefully done as your example proves. Sadly, most of the time it is not used discerningly, especially when it comes to aftermarket mods.
There are two approaches for stock and arftermarket, one is to accentuate the detail in the design and the other just "bling" it out. I think we know which is the wrong one.

Nope, I'm going through an anti-chrome period in my life. I don't mind it for accenting things, but otherwise I just don't like it.

What is a good example of this Non-chromed approach? I can only think of a few.
