It was written because after a critic said Van Halen only wrote songs about girls and partying, David Lee Roth realized he hadn't written a song about cars, to complete the rock cliche trifecta. Also, it is allegedly about an Opel Kadett wagon. And was the opening song to the NA relase of Gran Turismo 4. And it inspired the long form of my username. And it's awesome.
