I've been thinking about getting one of these. Think I will make it my xmas present to myself.

You do realize you're going to be limited to thicker aluminum... I picked up an aluminum kit (non spool gun) for my Lincoln 175, to realize I wasn't going to get very far with .050 and .060 3003....

This gun ought to be good for the square tube that I want to use for the stuff my wife wants built. I should be able to weld up to about 3/16" thick stuff w/ the .035" wire.

Yeah, it's good for thick stuff, from what I've heard. What brand/model of welder will you be using it on? Can it use larger wire, like .045?

I have a Millermatic 212 autoset, and a Miller Spoolmate 200 spool gun. The gun only runs .030" or .035" wire in Aluminum, down to .023" in other types.

I bought the cheap gun. There's a SpoolMatic 30A that'll run up to .045", but it's 3x the price I paid. I got a GREAT deal on the gun I bought.

I'm jealous. My crappy Lincoln has costed me a good chunk to keep it alive, whereas my Miller Syncrowave 200 runs like a top. Top notch quality, those Millers.

Reminds me... I live near, and used to live in Middlefield, aka Winkieville, aka Amish Territories. A place where, after work, one can say "In Middlefield, it's always Miller time..."
