"Codenamed"? Isn't codenamed supposed to not reveal what it is? BRZ-300: "I wonder how much power it makes?"

To be fair, the FR-S is... slow.

Can we see a vid against a 370Z or V6 Mustang now?

060Calculator.com says it will do 60 in ~4.5. That is... fast.

Thanks for testing on public roads a-holes.

I don't understand why people would be dogging a 300HP car that weighs so little. 100HP in a car that weighs 2800lbs makes a huge difference compared to 100HP in a car that weighs 3200 or 3500lbs. That can take a car like an FR-S/BRZ from high 14 second range to high 12 second range. You just jumped from competing with Accords to running with V8s.

Blah blah blah. Can't help you with fake out rage here. They were doing reasonable speeds, in a low population area, with good visibility, in good weather. They looked perfectly safe. It's not like they were weaving through traffic or something that had hazards around.

That's what these guys thought.

And only the 200HP FR-S was doing "reasonable" speeds (doesn't have a choice). Any one of those cars they passed could have mis-judged their speed and created a situation that would have not existed if they weren't racing.

They didn't think period. The reason the Corvettes crashed was due to excessive incompetence and spinning tires. These guys were completely different.

To say it would "create a situation that wouldn't have existed" is to say you should simply not drive. Then no driving related situations would occur. That is a straw man argument of "what ifs" that are usually used when lacking a real example of recklessness. What if a baby popped out of a manhole right at the moment the boosted BRZ passed over and it was set on fire by the down pipe!

Here's one, what if they weren't "racing" but one car were simply driving that speed and a crash occurred? Would you still have a sense of out rage?

Seriously?.... 1st gear-30mph, 2nd gear- 60/70mph, 3rd gear around 100mph, and he backs off mid 3rd gear.... Get the stick out of your ass.

Props for pointing out a logical fallacy. That being said, I will continue to debate you on this because I disagree with your perspective.

"Excessive" speed (in quotes since we both have different opinions of that) in a street environment (as opposed to the race track) increases complications in an already complex environment. Plenty of people get in accidents every day because somebody did something stupid (not paying attention, following too close, etc, etc..) and by adding speed you make those potential situations that much worse.

So yes, if it was just one of those cars speeding down the road and a car pulls out in front of them, causing an accident, I would still put some (not all) of the blame the guy speeding. The likelihood (less chance to avoid) and severity of the crash increased do to the speeding.

BTW... internet rage requires all caps. I think that's a rule somewhere.

I would simply counter with a car such as a prepared BRZ would be safer at 75 MPH than the average economy car would be at 45 MPH simply due to brakes, tires, suspension. Factor in the difference in attentiveness (one driver is sleeping at the wheel, the other is paying full attention and probably getting a boost of adrenalin) and I would be that should an unexpected situation a rise, the difference between the two vehicles probability of avoidance would be negligible.

The first thing to consider is that all your "what ifs" are negated simply by having good visibility and low traffic. Both the vehicles in question and those in opposing lanes have plenty of visibility and scanning range to easily prevent 90% of the "what if" scenarios. The only ways an accident would occur would be due to loss of vehicle control or negligent operation of a vehicle on the part of an oncoming vehicle... which could happen regardless of speed.

I agree with you that racing should be done on a track. I just disagree that this demonstration is the same thing as it was clearly done with greater control, restraint, and timing.

Doesn't say, just says 300 hp. Even still, that makes it 1.5x more powerful than stock!
