Love the Work , Can't Stand the Person

This question was inspired by a post earlier by THELOUDMUSIC . From time to time, in discussions with my friends , I have to explain to them how I can love a movie , song ,etc. , but not like the person responsible . Phil Anselmo is an example . While I love all the work he did with Pantera , I don't like the man much . This is not due to comments he made about Dimebag prior to his death. It's more a case of Phil coming off as disingenuous in almost every interview I've seen . He always strikes me as fake and full of false bravado . Now , these are just my impressions and are not stated as fact . that's just how it feels to me . There are others I feel this way about ( Jim Carrey , Kyle Bush ), but I've gone on long enough . Is there an artist , actor , or even racer , whose work you love , but you can't stand the person ?

Glenn Danzig. I love what he did with Misfits, Samhain and Danzig. But he seems like a total douchebag in every frigging setting you see him in, wether it be an interview or something else..

Roger Waters to me seems like an egomaniac from his persona, but his work is legendary. Andy Summers, guitarist of the Police, often seems like he craves the same fame that surrounds his two band mates, and really talks about how he was awesome compared to his cohorts, and he does have a point, but his attitude to me seems very...forceful.

I'm going to throw a couple out there. Rob zombie seems like an ass, but I love most of what he has done. Lewis Hamilton is a hell of a driver, but I can't stand him, though he was funny on top gear. I guess that's all I can come up with right now.

I'll agree with roger waters. He just couldn't let anyone else be the center of attention.

Roger Waters definitely fits the bill, until you start getting into the Wall-era; at that point, his egonomaniacism began to degrade the quality of the work Floyd was putting out.

I've never been sure how to feel about Roger , sometimes I'm sympathetic ( my dad died when i was young, too), sometimes ego is an understatement . As for the Police , it seems none of them liked the others . How a three piece group can work like that amazes me.

True. I think starting with the Wall, the band realized that Waters making the band all about him. By the Final Cut, they had to kick him out, knowing by then his material was worsening. Even today I find him overbearing; look at him during the 121212 concerts.

I've sometimes felt sympathetic, but his ego just got into it and made me question him. By the time the Police broke up none of them liked each other, heck Andy even said during the '07 tour that he hated them both.

Next thing I'm listening to. I've heard Synchronicity and Ghost in the Machine so far. No reggae punkiness there.

Ghost was what got me hooked on the Police . I liked all there single prior to that , but never bought the albums . After I bought GITM , i worked my way backwards through their records .

I remember hearing "Every Breath You Take" on the radio and going off to find whatever Police material I could get my hands on. Pretty much what I do when I hear a sound I like.

M. Schumacher is a genius driver of amazing ability. But uses the rules in almost or very dangerous ways when it suits him (stranding a crippled car in front to force a red flag just as an example) interview about it? No big deal. I love the genius driving he had but hate how unsafe he got..imho

I think David Gilmour just stole it without trying.

Gilmour is one of my favourite guitarists ever. I think it was time for roger to let it go though. The wall was excellent, but the final cut was him trying to dictate everything. I actually really like all of the gilmour led albums a lot though.
