Kinja'd!!!

They are both bonafide poster children and extremely capable exotic super cars. That's cool and all, but which one is better?

Kinja'd!!!

The Countach lived a long life from 1974 up until 1990. It is unmistakably iconic with its shin crushing wedge shape and pain in the ass backing up method. Only 2042 of these puppies were built.

Kinja'd!!!

The same Bertone studio that did the Miura, did the Countach. It was designed by Marcello Ghandini who had an eye for design, and not so much for ergonomics...which is totally fine by me. Its outrageous and awesome.

Kinja'd!!!

The Countach came in five flavors: LP400, LP400s, LP500s, 5000QV, and the 25th Anniversary Edition.

Kinja'd!!!

The last and most powerful Countach was equipped with a V12 5.2L DOHC with 455 Bhp and 501 Nm. 0-62 km mph in at 5 seconds flat with a top speed of 183 mph.

Kinja'd!!!

The Ferrari Testarossa

Kinja'd!!!

This car lived on from 1984-1991 with its 512 TR iteration from 1992-1996. The Countach already had ten years when this little whippersnapper was introduced. Pininfarina was the design studio that sculpted this beauty. It's side louvers are iconic Testarossa. It had a wide engine from the get-go, made wider by the fact that Ferrari crammed two radiators on either side of it. 7200 units were made while it walked this planet.

Kinja'd!!!

It had a 4.9L Boxer 12 cylinder engine with 4 valves per cylinder. It gushed out 390 Bhp with 452 Nm and a 0-60 time of 5.3 seconds. Top speed came around 180 mph give or take.

Kinja'd!!!

The interior definitely looked more "homely" compared to its rivals.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

So the question remains. If you could ultimately choose one of these cars. Which one would you take to majestically grace your garage?

Voted! I'd have the Testarossa; the Lamborghini looks wild and amazing, but the Ferrari is a bit less flash, while still exotic. Plus, it'd be easier to live with.

that is a tough question. If it was an LP400 there is no question that would be the one. Just such a clean, wild design. I think it got muddled in the 80's. Same thought process for the redhead. Love the understated interior and the rear taillights. Plus you all played this

Easy - the Countach. While the Testarossa screams of the '80s, the Countach just screams.

The definitive model styling-wise was the 400s, with just the right amount of exagerated bodywork, but avoiding the 500QV's me-too 80's cliche bodywork slats and fugly bumpers.

I've had the chance to sit in each. Have actually tried about three Countaches on for size.

The Testarossa is uncomfortable. Not enough room, iffy driving position.

The Countach is resolutely inhospitable, almost torturous. I cannot find a workable driving arrangement. Head room, leg room, foot room all lack badly. If you are much over five-six you're out of luck.

The Countach wins as pure sculpture; the TR isn't as evocative. Driving? Leaning towards the Ferrari, but neither really makes me happy.

It's a tough choice. I went with the Countach. I had one on my wall, and though I have 1:18 models of both, the Countach still screams "I can go 300mph!" more than the Ferrari ever did.

It would have to be a later Countach though. I need all the wings, inlets, and body kits. That's what made it crazy.

I am not entirely sure this is answerable. One part leans to testarossa. Easier (maybe) to maintain, easier to get in an out of, and still awesome. But then, only one? I had pictures of the lambo on my wall....I still love the look. But those side strakes, and that tail light, the rossa defines "dat ass!". But the wedge and that impossible windshield....

Honestly, I do not know. If I had to commute in it, Testarossa. If I wanted it as a weekend play thing, Countach.

Even thought the Ferrari's flat 12 was called a "Boxer" (starting with the BB512, and carried on through the Testarossa) it is not a true boxer.

It's a 180 degree V-12.

Top engine = boxer, since it has two crank pins.

Bottom engine = flat, since they share a crank pin.

That's an easy one. When we were kids, my brother had an 1/10 scale RC Testarossa, while I had a 1/10 scale Countach. I went to do some hot laps in my Lambo one day, only to find that it no longer worked, and there was a big old crack in the front bumper. When I confronted him about it, he absolutely denied his involvement in the demise of my car.

So, I would take the Testarossa, gift it to my brother, and when he wasn't home, borrow it and total it.

You could park either in your living room today, never leave the house again, and be quite happy just looking at them. The really crazy part is today you can have a nice example of either for less than a mildly optioned mid-level BMW or Mercedes. Totally the Countach. Really the Countach is a hands-down winner here and the market prices back that up. A well sorted Countach is north of $100k while the TR's value continues to depreciate.

Of course both have the tremendously 80s styling, but to me the Testarossa keeps becoming more and more dated while the Countach continues to be. . . unique. (I don't know if "timeless" is really the right word here). The Countach, to me, is a classic and beautiful 80s design a-la the F40, whereas the Testarossa reeks of the 80s a-la the C-4 Vette, albeit to a lesser degree.

5000QV, please

Any movie that starts with THAT sound and opening title text reading ' A Hal Needham Film ' is freaking gold in my book!

The Ferrari seems old, the Mambo is just timeless

Testarossa, no contest. I don't like the way the Countach looks inside or out.

Your explanation fails to convince me, considering that the terms 'flat' and 'boxer' are used interchangeably for Porsche and Subaru engines.
