Sounds great, looks great(the best looking American car since the 2000s Ford GT), and has power that would make a Lamborghini Murcielago jealous. Even if you hate muscle cars, you have to love this beast! It also has significance, being the last car Carol Shelby oversaw/made. I can see this thing being worth much more money in the future. Hopefully not to much, cause I actually want one of these. Really badly.

From what I hear it's too powerful for the chassis to handle it in stock form, and I don't doubt that either.

I don't like its looks, but it's makes a helluva sweet noise, and it's quite a machine itself. And yes, it's gonna appreciate in about ten years.
People hate it because well, society has became too sanitized for cars like the GT500. It's a pity. I recommend you to read
TTAC's review
if you like it so much. Something of a
fin de siécle
piece if you ask me.

I only hate one aspect of it.
The Shelby aspect.
Shelby has had fuck all to do with the last 2 versions of the GT500. It has all been a product of the Special Vehicles Team yet you need to look a little harder to find the SVT badges that indicate as such.

Exactly. And in the meantime, they deprive Shelby American of being able to use the GT500 name.

Too powerful? There's no such thing. See: http://oppositelock.jalopnik.com/watch-this-119…

Notice how I wrote "in stock form" ? That E30's chassis has been reinforced extensively to handle the added power. The GT500's factory stock chassis isn't quite stiff enough to handle the power, and would really benefit from a cage or at least some added bracing.

I don't think I could hate it if I tried, looks and sounds too awesome. If I had to cast a vote for best looking American car since the Ford GT, I wouldn't vote for it, instead choosing the CTS-V Wagon, or the C7 Stingray.
Or even...dare I say the C6 Z06
If a GT500 and any of these three parked side by side, I'd be looking more closely at these. Of course this is all a personal preference, and I can certainly see why so many love the GT500 - they are awesome.

I test drove a 550hp version of the Shelby GT500 a year ago.
It was fucking terrible.

They haven't utilized the SVT name in quiet sometime. It's a huge bummer.

The departed Shelby had jack all to do with the current GT500. He didn't oversee a thing.
The SVT team worked on their own on the car. In his honour and using his name is just that, for the publicity and sales. Shelby as a company has nothing to do with the GT500 at all anymore. Its entirely an in house operation.

Chassis flex isn't nice even in a burnout and donut-machine.

Actually, I kinda agree with you. It would have been a lot better to keep the SVT Cobra name.

The SVT Cobra/Terminators were pretty awesome but they were also packing IRS rear ends and were pretty exceptional in the corner business.
I don't know, it seems as if they left the track rat mentality to the now GT and the GT500 has gotten to keep the overpowered straight line business.
Bringing back the SVT Cobra plate for the next GT500 would be freaking amazing.

But look how closely it looks to the original (design wise, not size wise)

Yeah this is true, but I mean it is kind of comical. I hear the shifter is nice, steering sucks, but the engine is a monster! I wonder what if feels like to drive. . .

That is a plus I guess. you can tell it is a charger even though it is 40 years newer. I am not quite sure but there are a lot thing off about the new one, like the rear end. DAMN YOU SAFETY REGULATIONS!

It would, but it's not gonna happen. He's has even less to do with it now that he's dead, but people will still shell out that $$$ for a Mustang with Shelby Badgeing on it.

Call me a square, I'd remove the badging if I got one going forward.
I don't particularly like the excessive badging, I appreciate the snake so I could be inclined to keep that, SVT and Cobras have a long history; but I'd just as happily slap the SVT badge on the trunklid and call it a day. Honour those that actually put sweat into the car and let the public know in a manner besides having to open up the hood and looking at the valve covers.

The SVT logo lights up when you approach redline I believe, unless they've changed that.
More SVT badges is the end game here.
Maybe if Shelby as a company actually did something to help SVT I'd shut up about it, but its plain and simple profiteering from a name that I'm not even sure the upcoming generations will ever have a reason to care about.
Sparf

Ditto, although I'd also remove the snakes since I dislike that badge (especially since it's off-center on the grille, which I hate).

The snakes by the sides can stay, the one in front ehhh...no.
Just aesthetically, its stupid.

It's the same with the first and second generation Camaro Z/28 (and now the new fifth gen too), and I actually dislike it due to that off-center grille badge alone and prefer the SS (the centered grille badge pleases my very light OCD tendencies).

For the GT500, its not like people need a reminder of what the damn thing is.
As if the quad pipes, gaping intercooler, viagra fuelled hood bulge and thundering V8 note somehow lead people to call it a Civic.

That's also true. I find it to be a bit too much for me, and that's weird since I like things like RWB Porsches. I guess it's because it's "too much" without quite having the same unrefined rawness of something like RWB.

I need to learn more about old school american muscle, I confuse a lot of the cars.
