The DJ Oppo Review Re-post for the week day crew

Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action is the 4th and latest album by Franz Ferdinand. This album is the perfect summation of their music catalogue so far.

( Full discloser: I wanted to hear this LP so bad that I preordered the Deluxe Double LP from Domino Records. This isn't supposed to come out until 8/27/2013, but the postman decided to bring it to me early, Fuck Yeah! )

It kicks off with the band's newest single: !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , this is classic Franz Ferdinand reminiscent of the first album. It has a raw, funky, Bowie disco era feel to it. The raw feel sticks around for the next song "Evil Eye", but with a much darker quality.

This darkness is present in every other song for the album, not that this is a bad thing. The next couple songs !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! and "Stand on the Horizon" feel as if they could have been written for You Could of Had it So Much Better, but they still belong here. "Fresh Strawberries" and "Bullet" have a more early Pink Floyd battling the early Beetles. "Treason! Animals" and "The Universe Expanded" really remind one of Tonight , the deeper you dive into the album the darker it gets. This finishes off the album with "Brief Encounters" and "Goodbye Lovers and Friends".

In all this is a Franz Ferdinand album, that driving dance beat is always there but it is manipulated from song to song. From the poppy beings to the dark finish, it could be compared to a great chocolate stout, it's sweet going down flowing with a high alcohol content that bites you on the tail end. The whole time you enjoy it, it has all of the flavors that you want and the kick that you need, all the while it holds together with common theme. It's one of their best.

My DJ Oppo score: 4.9/5

Better than the second, about the same rating as the first.
