We've all done stupid stuff. We've all (at least most of us, if you're doing it right) done things that we look back at and say "holy crap. I kinda can't believe I did that, and that I didn't die/get arrested. WHAT THE FARK WAS I THINKING!??!" Ideally, you get a scar or a bruise or just an awesome story, and you move on. That's what happened here. Remember the idiot kid who did EVERYTHING wrong with his Chevy 350 Miata, where it ended up with a huge fire and amazingly not burning everything down? He took his lumps, he admitted it was stupid, and here he is, with the same car, with a fire extinguisher, cranking it up. You know what? I admire this kid's determination. Sure, it was painfully stupid to do what he did the first time, but it takes guts and character to own your mistakes, learn from them, dust yourself off and try again. Somebody competent needs to take this kid under their wing and show him the right way to do stuff. He's plucky. I like it.

I set my Miata on fire once too. I was trying to get the crank pulley off so I soaked it in penetrating oil. When that didn't work, I cleaned the oil off with brake cleaner and tried to torch it off. Apparently I had a big puddle of brake cleaner in the under tray right behind the pulley. Fwoosh, big flames. I ended up taking it out of gear, releasing the parking brake, and pushing it down the driveway to where the garden hose was, flames and smoke billowing. Got it put out, fortunately no real damage other than a little melting on the plastic tray. Lessons learned. I also bought a pair of big fire extinguishers for the garage.

Oh, and the pulley came right off after setting the car on fire.
