Ben Affleck of Dare Devil and Gigli fame has been cast as the new Batman... all I can do is laugh, and I bet Christian Bale is too. Great director, acting just isn't really his game.

He is set to play Batman in the Zack Snyder Batman vs Superman movie and I guess if it goes well continue to play the character.

I can't think of anything I've seen Afleck in that I've liked, but I don't have anything against him. I just don't see him as Batman though.

Christian Bale is done with Batman, as is Christopher Nolan. What they did was great, three great movies, and quite while ahead. Do they think they will do a better job? Now that we have seen the best batman they think that they can get a piece of Nolan's success. BS. They already flopped. Let it go.

Yeah I don't get all the hate here. And Batman put Bale on the map, not the other way around.

I think it is way too soon to be shitting the bed over all of this, plus people are acting like Batman is Citizen Kane or something. Let it go. This franchise has already seen its lowest point in the Joel Schumacher era. Don't see how it can get much crappier than that.

I saw Empire of the Sun about 5 years after it came out and new that little kid would be big. Then a few years later American Psycho came out, and I think for anyone who likes good movies, and not just block busters, would say that was Bale's breakout.

Bale and Nolan kind of did put Batman back on the map. It showed what a comic movie could really be, and not just a shiny and sly Iron Man or the angst-rich Spiderman. Batman made Bale rich, movies like Rescue Dawn and his own intense method acting style are what make him great. Hopefully he isn't always typecast by movie-goers as Batman.

What Bale and Nolan actually did was turn comic book superhero movies into a serious business enterprise. There hadn't been very comic book movies that were also truly good films. I don't think anybody else has been able to get up to the same level, but it's definitely improved the quality of all the comic book movies that came after.
