The other day, while looking inside my head..
and then, over at the mechanics, where my engine was apart a bit. Ugh.
Despite all those ads on the side of the gas pumps, my valves looked like something out of a hot water heater flange. 50,000 miles and they started out new.
Ethanol. All over my fuel system. I have, over varied problems, had to refurbish everything from the tank pump to the injectors. Just gaining a few years on the problem.
I'm working on an 80s carburetor rebuild. fuel bowl, same stuff.
Overall neither 20th century system seems to be adapting to this mixed crap very well.
Should I go cold turkey and drive that extra block over to the 100% gas?

Yes. Go 100% gas. I can tell a difference in my 944 if I'm running pure gas or corn gas. I don't even want to think about what my engine looks like after being stubborn.
In the year I've had my 944 I was on and off with no-ethanol. If I bought regular gas, it was premium. If I bought no-ethanol, I could never find it in octanes above 89, and most commonly just 87.
I'm wondering what's more important—octane rating, or ethanol percentage.

I also have the wrong spark plugs in there. Figure I'll wait till the car's back. No, I don't use anything under 89, wait til Fridays get premium but doesn't make much difference between it and 89 to me. Still getting 35+ but not calculated a full tank of 100%.
OT Sideline on a local CL listing; Baron .. it's red. Fortunately, automatic. Close one eh?

It would be great. I wish my 944 were Red. Maybe there's a professional plasti-dip in my future.
But auto means CP. :P
