Basically. The last one was based on a Bold-series BB and had a $2,000 price tag IIRC.

Blackberry doesn't need this right now, especially now that they've made it known that they're looking to be bought out.

Blackberry would be around forever if they'd just sell their keyboard software in all the app stores.

Why can't we have a Porsche design Android phone?

If the new Droid lineup is a Mustang (light and powerful) and the iPhone 5 is a Camaro (badly in need of an update), this thing is an AMC Matador. Cool, looks kinda unique, but has absolutely nothing to offer over its well-established rivals. It's heavier, slower, odder-looking, bigger, and has a certain charm about it, but at the end of the day, we both know it will probably leak oil all over the place and stop running in three years.

I wouldn't even make the Dodge Challenger comparison with BB, that goes to Samsung and the Galaxy.

What comparison is there to be made between Samsung's Galaxy lineup and the Challenger? The Note II is big, and the Note III will be bigger, but I don't see any other parallels. That and the Galaxy brand gets stamped onto almost every Samsung Android device.

I don't count the Note as a smartphone, or as a direct competitor with the other droids.

I mean to limit to the Galaxy S4, the biggest competitor to the other two. It was the most powerful (until the new Droid lineup comes out) was the most powerful of the three, with the best looks and best display. It also was the largest and entered the market later than the original Droid and iPhone. Sorta makes me think about how the Challenger (both in 1970 and 2008) was late to the party but came with a "bigger is better" attitude.

EDIT: A Google search shows that the first phone named "Samsung Galaxy" actually came out before the first Droid. Huh.

Ah, I see what you mean. I'd note that the 2008 Challenger preceded the 2010 Camaro, though.

I'd also liken the iPhone to the Challenger as two things in need of a revolutionary change. The Camaro's still heavy and hard to see out of, but the 1LE package seems to have addressed the handling aspects.
