"Hermann" (hermann)

Hi, my name is Hermann. You must be wondering why I am posting this. Well,
!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
left me responsible for this Fantasy WRC, he's probably too busy or is tired of hearing me bitching that I didn't get to see previous posts. Hopefully his business is very lively... or better not.
Tomorrow starts the ADAC Rallye Deutschland, also known as WRC Germany. It's a rally held since the early 80's, once won by Mr. Röhrl himself in a Stratos. It's part of the WRC calendar since 2002 and has been won almost entirely by Loeb since then, with the only exception of a win for Ogier in 2011.
WRC Germany is held entirely on paved roads. Twisty vineyard roads start the rally, moving to military training grounds with concrete surfaces lined with the famous Hinkelsteine which were made to stop tanks but are also very famous for being efficient on stopping rally cars and !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . And then some more asphalt to complete the rally, on the twisty, but fast corners of Saarland. It's a very fast and !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! rally.
Loeb, as you may know, is not present this year. Thus, clearing way for the other contenders.
VW calls this rally as their "Heimspiel" or Home play. Giving some home field advantage to Ogier and Latvala, current 1st and 2nd on this year's WRC. But on the other hand, Citröen has never lost WRC Germany. So this can only be a very exciting race.
Here are the rules and scoring: Pick four drivers for the rally and one for the power stage (the final stage of the rally). None of your four drivers can be part of the same team (so you can’t have both Hirvonen and Sordo, or both Ogier and Latvala). Your power stage driver can be amongst your four main drivers or it can be someone else (team rules do not apply for the power stage driver). List the four drivers in the order you expect them to finish. At the end of the rally you get the cumulative total points from each of your four drivers (an additional 2 points if you correctly guessed their finishing order), plus 2x however many points your power stage driver scored (if any).

I don't really play along in fantasy WRC, but here is my guess anyways:
1) Sordo
2) Ogier
3) Latvala
4) Neuville
Powerstage: Latvala

Excellent choices! Welcome to the game.
But there's a problem, you can't choose two from the same team. So you'll have to chose between Latvala and Ogier and add another driver. Tough choice, I know... It's always difficult to chose between them and also Sordo/Hirvonen.

Alright then, didn't know that. That makes it even more difficult...
1) Sordo
2) Ogier
3) Neuville
4) Ostberg

Yeah. It's always difficult. But that's part of the fun!

Let's get crazy then:
1. Sebastien Ogier
2. Dani Sordo
3. Thierry Neuville
4. Robert Kubica
Power stage: Thierry Neuville.

I keep forgetting Kubica's an option because he's WRC2. He could definitely make a strong showing here

I created the "no teammates" rule last year because without it everyone would just pick the two Ford drivers and the two Citroen drivers. Forcing everyone to use four drivers from four teams creates more diverse rosters, though even now the standard formula of "Ogier Hirvonen Ostberg Neuville" is starting to develop (this week being a bit of an exception because tarmac). I might make it 5 drivers next year, or add a WRC2 driver for bonus points.

Mikkelsen pulled out because his co-driver is hurt. Swap in a new #4

Indeed he could, this is his surface, but as you know, Germany is not your typical tarmac rally. If if rains, it's carnage. But Kubica could really shine if all goes well.

Bold moves, man! I hope Kubica shows his skills because he's awesome. But from the other hand I didn't bet on him.

Ah, Sordo. I was really about to put him as my 2nd, but those tank-stopping rocks require not only skills, but also luck! And Sordo is not the luckiest guy around, ahahah.

Fair enough! It's first time for him on all these rallies, lots and lots to learn. Perhaps Germany isn't really the best rally for Kubica, being so tight and twisty. Spain on the other hand... But it's all learning this year. Should he stay in WRC for 2014, then we're talking business.

Just what I thought. He's good, but still unexperienced. Germany can be lots of fun, but it very unforgiving with mistakes.
2014 will be another good year, with these guys being more experienced, Hyundai joining and the first full year without Loeb, ahahah.

Bad. Three cases at once is tough. Long hours and little sleep

True, but I figure Hirvonen hasn't been the luckiest driver this year either, and Sordo has 4 podiums in 6 starts in Germany, including 3 second place finishes in 4 starts with Citroen.

You make a strong point. He's also 4 seconds ahead of Hirvonen on SS1 already, darn it.
But I'll stick to Hirvonen! He's the man!

I just noticed no one picked Latvala, and everyone picked Ogier. Looks like we're out of luck.

Every time Orlove forgets to make picks Ogier has a bad time
