Then I took it to a cruise night. I'm happy with the way it looks. It just looks like something you would actually see roaming the streets in 1972. Not every Cutlass was a 442, not every car of the muscle era was red, blue, or black. White walls and spoke hubcaps were a thing. And that's what this car came with, so that's how it shall look.

I love the sleeper look. That would really be awesome combined with something angry under the hood.

I never cared for wire hubcaps , however , this is a very nice example of a normal , everyday Cutlass and for that I salute you.

Yes. For better or worse, this one is too original to mess with. And it is far from a sleeper. If anything, this is an anti-sleeper. It looks faster than it is. 1972 SAE net hp ratings (includes exhaust, air cleaner, belt driven accessories) were more accurate then the gross hp ratings (basically a bare block) of previous years, combine that with emissions crap, and this mighty 5.7 liter is rated at only 180hp. Plenty of torque but it is going through a 3 speed auto and going to only one rear wheel. Spins the tires without trying, but you don't go very far very fast.

I do have dreams of a restomod Cutlass Supreme with an LS engine painted gold of course, Tremec 6 speed, modernized suspension, updated interior, less chrome, etc. Or keep it all stock looking, but put in a moderately built 455 and paint it gold and throw on a 350 air cleaner and pass it off as a 350.

Yea, same here. But they fit the car so well and that is how it left the factory. I'm keeping it as original as I can.

I agree...so many cars had them back then. don't take 'em off unless you go restomod someday.

I'm leaving this one alone. Maybe I'll find another rough one someday to have fun with.

Replying to an old post is wrong, I know, but I just had to say your car is gorgeous.

No worries. And thank you sir. As a reward for sifting through old posts, enjoy a shot of its paisley seats.

Damn, those look brand new... Factory brand new. It has bench seats in the front I take it? Bench seats are great for cruising with girls, haha...

Front bench yes. Benches are good for the girls, but girls are bad for the fabric lol. But Maybe I'm just a bit overly protective since they don't make reproduction seat covers in that cloth.
