Whats in a paint? Well, i suppose thats a silly question. But even though i know, im just astounded how it varies so much. My dad and I both have white cars. White is not known for the depth and color in its reflection. Its not a "3foot paint job". However, his is almost that. (my paint in the first pic)
I really should have set the Fstop higher on the camera for one, as i wasnt paying attention and it blows out some of the background, but whatever.
Now in comparison, both my car and my dads are 2001's. Thats really the only similarity. Since he's got a german paintjob (740i) and i have a japanese paintjob (prelude), there is a massive difference in quality. And its pretty obvious.
Even though his car is dirty, and mine was just washed after i took the first photo, his has much more depth and clarity. In person its easier to see. The colors in reflections are much more defined. And you can really feel the difference too. Which brings me to the best color to enjoy depth of paint.
Red. (Blue and black are good ones too, black probably being the best tho)
To my surprise, i was very pleased with how well Chevy (gm) did with their paint on the new (07+) Tahoes. Certainly they surpass the stigmas of american made a number of years back. But the red has a fantastic depth to the reflections, and i wish its something i could see in a white paint.
I suppose its a battle i will never win. All the products in the world may never get me the depth i would want in a white car. As much as i love the white paint, it really is my only complaint. But hell, i think im just being picky.
TL;DR. I like paint. And depth. And color.

I'd consider polishing & detailing your car as well. Try to gain as much "depth" from the paint as you can.

Ive done that numerous times already. compound, wash, compound, wash, polish, detail, wash, wax, etc etc...
The biggest gun left in my arsenal is a clay bar, which im hesitant to use for fear of damaging my pin stripe... The other thing is, i guess i should start trying out a few different brands of wax.

You should really clay bar it - if worried about the pin striping get some painter's tape and mask off the stripes.

You dont think the nonclayed part will be obvious? Then again, its only about 1/4inch anyways, so..
Then again, i mask off the entire car when i wax, so this would be easier....

Not obvious enough for anyone to notice it (well, besides you). Clay bar a small area with the stripe and see how it turns out - you may not have any issues.

Stay away from new Hondas then. If you breath too hard on my mom's Accord, the paint comes peeling off the bumper.

Its not a new honda by any means. But that doesnt make it better either. I knew honda paints werent the best, but, i was just kinda getting it out of my system by writing it out.
Im still a honda fan tho. That will never change.
