Not car manufacturers in general but more so just the model.
I was thinking the BMW e30. But second guessing myself, I don't know if I could tell it apart from an e28 head on. I might be able to but I haven't had the opportunity much. So if I were to redact that I have to rethink my answer but All of you can join in on the question answering.

This. Because you know what this means when you see it driving down the road.

getting used to seeing that sucks... nearly got picked off by a marked Impala and mistook many marked Chargers and Taurus' for civi cars until it would have been too late while driving from NJ to VA and back.

I can always spot the E30, even if i were blind. But i cant tell E12 and E28 apart, i can stare at them the whole day and i wouldnt know looking just from the front.

head on vs. e28 is easy. the e30 has less overhang at the top where it transitions from grill to hood. e21 vs e28 is harder. e28 was the last of the designs where the grill slopes back from the hood to the bumper, and e30 was the first of flat fronts.

The more I look at them it is easier to tell apart. I guess I just hadn't seen many e28s

My parents had both. Mom rolled in an e28 and dad in an e30 M3. I had plenty of practice :)

e30 is not quite flat, it slants back too. Just a lot less than the e21, e24, e28. I think the e34 is a properly flat front but I'm not sure

Not really for me (though I can tell the difference between nearly any variant of the Cobra). I can definitely see that with the 289 road cars though.

There are few things worse than having obnoxious ad campaigns from the mid nineties permanently burned into your memory. But here I am none the less.

I'd go either E-Type or Classic mini.

These are two cars that even people who know diddly squat about cars will be able to tell what they are. Maybe that's just over this side of the pond, but it still holds true.
