Some time ago I was at the Lego store and signed up for the Lego VIP program. Today I got an email saying that as member, I was able to order the new Sydney Opera House 2 weeks before release.

So I did. I look forward to building it next week some time.

Just did Lego City Hall with my kid. It was a bit over his head but a fun project anyways..

I think that what amazes me most is the amount of work and engineering that goes into designing one of these sets. I saw a documentary some time back about the behind-the-scenes life of Lego including the design and development process. It's shocking, really. They say that BMW (I think?) spends something like 5 million dollars a day in R&D alone and I think to myself, "Wow. Lego really is cool!"

I finished this set a few months ago (Note: not my picture, this is from the LEGO website).

My wife built that one (I helped) several months ago. That was a pretty involved build.
