That is doubly true for any cross-posted story that reaches the rest of the Gawker network. The gist of the article was spot on, and the closing line was the right kind of Jalopesque tongue-in-cheek. My profession is, in fact, in auto sales. Worse yet, as a manager (you know, the real bad guys at any dealership, amirite?) But even I saw the humor and the root causes for the perceptions discussed in the article. And I also know that while some of that might still exist, by and large it doesn't anymore. Which is why that lingering perception doesn't bother me, because that's not how I roll. Some of the other FP posters got worked up or took it personally, causing much butthurt. But why let it get to you? Many professions have stereotypes which are either no longer the case, or were never true to begin with. My lawyer buddies don't bat an eye when people ask them if they still chase ambulances.
