...then I better save up the money to buy a used XTS before it's redesigned to this language. While I appreciate the design of the concept as a whole, those thin LED headlamps really bug me. They look as ugly as Audi's Matrix lamps or Acura's except vertical.
I don't even know why exactly they bug me. They're thin and vertical, but so are all modern Cadillac's, just a bit thicker to accommodate the projectors and reflector turn signals.
But something about current Cadillacs pleases me in a way the Elmiraj (and the Escalade teaser) do not. Could just be me. I get really bothered about minor stuff like this, and non-Titanium Fusion rear bumpers.

*shrug* it's all opinion. I prefer the XTS.

Nope they are cool. Like anything, they can be done wrong or right, and here they are awesome.

To me, this looks a lot more "fancy Chevy" than Cadillac. I see more than a little Impala in that snout.

I have to admit I like it. However, when I saw it first posted by Juan Barnett I thought it was the old Ciel concept. Clearly upon closer examination it was different. The Ciel did lead to the XLR. Will this car turn into something. Probably an XTC, though I sure wish Cadillac would abandon the stupid lettering system and find cool names.
I'm also glad to see the wreath go bye-bye. To me it makes the brand somehow still look like it's for old people (of which I'm quickly becoming one).
As an American I'm glad to see company's go out on a ledge with design though. I'm with you on the lights. I like the idea of LED lights, but they look odd. I'm sure we'll get used to them if Cadillac goes in this direction.
Good post.

This is just headlight design going forward.
We are no longer bound by the restrictions of reflectors or projectors that need a lot of space.
Headlights can now be any size and shape with the internal heat sinks moved elsewhere.
I get what you're saying, but you're too used to the design of old in which it was a requirement to have massive assemblies to house the lights. Not the case anymore, the lighting tech itself gives designers new options to play with.

Eh...I kinda agree the headlamps could be thicker. Don't fret too much about it though. All Cadillac concepts start out with super skinny headlamps. Look at the Converj vs. ELR.
