What was the silliest car choice of the people you know?

My cousin's wife traded in her early 2000s Pathfinder for a 2007 Odyssey back in 2007. They had 1 kid at the time. The next kid came... 3 years later. And they asked me what to get; I suggested the new Outback. At least they got something more fitting for 2 children.

My mother in law bought a brand new stripped out Chevy cobalt. She paid retail for a worthless car right before a better car came out, making her car even more worthless.
Thankfully the story has a happy ending as they just traded it in for a fully optioned out dart, which is as nice as the cobalt was terrible.

I am married with two kids and two dogs (so family of 4 plus 2) and I drive a Mazdaspeed Miata. I guess I am the person I know with the worst car choice.

We just take my wife's car (Mazda5) anytime 3 or more people must travel at once.

I live close to a TV channel, so lots of people with well-paying jobs park nearby, many use normal city cars, but those that live in the high-income areas drive some huge SUVs, there's this well-known tv-woman who drives a Honda PILOT, she has one son and her husband is quite rich. So, it's mainly a big-ass SUV for one person, driving through the city's centre.

I had a friend whose first car was a 2 year old Chevy Silverado 2500. He did use it to plow, but dang that thing was huge when driving around Suburbia.
Actually it was pretty awsome in a 'merica sort of way, although I'm glad I didn't have to pay for gas or park it.

You're fooling yourself. The Dart is still going to be the same depreciation nightmare the Neons and Cobalts were.

Given the choice of which one to drive into the ground, I'd chose the dart all day long over the cobalt, especially given the options each one came with. One is attractive, handles well, has great mileage and has fantastic interior quality. The other one is a cobalt with manual locks that feels the need to blink at me if I try to shift past 3k rpm.
