Nevermind I just looked at io9 again and they did it. THEY DONE DID IT AGAIN. DAMNIT. I hate that design. I stopped going to io9 because of it. It was insufferable.

anybody can teach me how to navigate? now the front page is mixed 50:50 i guess with posts from oppo too.. not that i would mind, but my neatness/order meter is going off the scale..
also, the big picture front page is waaaay better..

io9 was the guinea pig. Niners complained. Apparently the complaints fell on deaf ears.

Be careful, man. Complaining too loudly — especially on the Observation Deck — will get you blocked, so that nothing you post will ever be seen.
I complained politely about the transition to Kinja, and I haven't been allowed on the ODeck in months. I've appealed to io9 and the Kinja help desk, but they won't do anything. The side blogs like ODeck and Oppositelock are little fiefdoms, and the moderators there have complete leeway to kick out anyone they don't like, for any reason. I've lost touch with friends from io9 that I've known for years.
These are terrible, terrible forums and I don't expect them to prosper. Soon there will be nothing but little cliques in their own hidden echo chambers, all of which love the site design. And that's apparently the way the Gawker overlords want it to be.

Meh I think my analogy to V for Vendetta was sci-fiish enough to make my post stand by itself. On Opposite lock the admins hand out posting privledges like candy. There's no "fiefdom" there. The O-Deck has had some recent issues with some of their posters and they appear to not like off-topic discussions. No OT no problem. They are a little more tight over there though.
